When it comes to setting the table, we love playing around with new combinations. We bring together pieces we’ve never thought to mix, and swap out flatware, flowers, and table linens to create a whole new look. Above, we’ve put together 22 fun place setting looks we’re excited to share with you. We hope you’ll use these table settings to inspire your next dinner party, holiday gathering, or even a family meal!
MAGENTA ACCENTS
If you already have tons of neutral pieces — like linens and dinnerware — then it’s super easy to bring in fun colors for a new look with little investment. We used a striped tablecloth, flax napkin, rattan charger, and then brought in pink with a flower arrangement in the center and sprigs of florals on each plate. For the place cards, we simply used water color paints to create big splashes of color on art paper. Then, we cut it into place cards. A simple craft project that feels really special.
All of a sudden, this table feels colorful and festive, with only a few flowers and some paint as the accents.

FAUX TORTOISE
No turtles were harmed in the making of this place setting! We used a faux tortoise shell at each seat for a fun twist and to play up the warm browns and taupes of the napkins and place mats.

VIBRANT TABLE CLOTH
A bold table cloth is a lovely accent when you want to spice things up! This one patterned piece can give your tried-and-true neutral pieces a whole new life!

NATURAL & NEUTRAL
This table setting was inspired by the gorgeous floral centerpiece which is the perfect jumping off point for a spring gathering, and a sage green linen napkin goes beautifully. Finally, we topped the place settings off with a ceramic hang tag and a sprig of rosemary — super simple but it sure feels chic!

COLORFUL IKAT
A colorful ikat inspired this table setting! We used our Marrakesh Flatware in Gold to bring out the warm tones in the fabric, and kept the rest of the place setting fairly simple. One single pink tulip at each place setting is a lovely way to bring flowers onto the table without doing a huge centerpiece!

Sea Glass & Copper
We love using unexpected touches in our place settings — like a string of gorgeous sea glass beads wrapped around a simple, striped napkin. This combination feels slightly coastal, and we love the way the copper flatware echoes the warm tones of the wooden table and the votive candles.

PINK & ZINC
This organic table setting is set off by a zinc top table and an arrangement of pink flowers. To balance the cool tones of the table, we used a charger and napkin ring from our Piper Collection as well as gold flatware.

Floral & Stripes
Our two favorite designers come together in this next look! The floral pattern of the dinner plate in Bunny Williams’ Melange dinnerware pairs beautifully with wide cabana stripe — Suzanne Kasler’s 13 oz Signature Linen in Flax & Blanc.

MAGENTA & GOLD
Our Adair Table Linen Collection inspired this place setting. We loved the organic pattern, especially when balanced with the structured, classic Banded Dinner Napkins from Bunny Williams! Top it off with a Hanging Label Holder and some gold flatware.

MONOGRAM IT!
A classic monogram makes any table setting more chic. We paired our French Stripe linens with the Piper Woven Chargers for a relaxed but polished vibe.

BRING OUT THE BLUE
A yard or two of fabric is the perfect way to give your dining table a new look! We used a yard of Suzanne Kasler’s 13oz Signature Linen in Indigo and paired it with Bunny Williams’ Campbell House dinnerware and Campbell Napkins.

SPRIG OF ROSEMARY
We love accenting a simple table setting with a sprig of rosemary! Not only does it bring some pretty color to the table, but it smells fantastic too! Plus, you can cut a couple of pieces from your garden — an inexpensive detail that pays off in spades.

COPPER HUES
Our Marrakesh Flatware in Rose Gold is the perfect complement to Bunny Williams Melange Dinnerware and Banded Dinner Napkins in Persimmon. The colors go together beautifully, especially when set off with Suzanne Kasler’s 13oz Signature Linen in Flax & Blanc.

PUNCH IT UP
Our Adair Linen Collection works beautifully with all your neutral basics but brings in just that perfect amount of pink! Here, we paired it with rose gold flatware, classic white dinnerware, and tortoise votive holders for a collected look.

Paired with Persimmon
Bunny Williams Crocheted Round Placemats served as the jumping off point for this festive look which feels fresh year round — from Spring to Summer to Fall.

Trellis Print in Gray
A graphic trellis print brings some fun pattern to a table. We paired it with gray linens with a white monogram and white dinnerware.

Berries & Stripes
Jazz up a classic stripe linen collection with gold flatware and sprigs of red berries!

Apple Green with Envy
Punctuate your place setting with a piece of fruit! Real or faux, you’ll bring a bit of color and a special detail to your table setting. We started with a dinner plate form Bunny Williams Melange Collection, topped it with her Banded Dinner Napkins, a faux apple, and a pretty floral arrangement. All together, this look feels fresh and bright for Spring!

WARM TEXTURES
Playing off the texture of the wooden table, we chose pieces that would complement it’s easy, warm feel. We used Bunny Williams’ Banded Dinner Napkins in Natural, Tortoise Flatware, and a shimmering pear box.

Persimmon & Stripes
A wide cabana stripe is the perfect base for any table setting — so many patterns work with it! This time, we chose rose gold flatware, persimmon dinner napkins, tortoise votives, and a bit of rosemary. Fun, relaxed, and a little unexpected!

A Coastal Look
Blue and white is a classic pairing that will never go out of style. On those warm summer nights, you’ll love getting to pretend you’re at the beach with a coastal-inspired table setting! Pair a bold blue stripe with neutral gray dinnerware and a white napkin, and you’re ready to entertain friends and family!

Where is the trellis print gray table cloth from?
Caroline @ How to Decorate
Hi Dawn,
This is actually one of our fabrics that we used as a tablecloth! You can really use any piece of fabric as a table cloth by layering it over a larger tablecloth, or cutting the fabric to drape generously over the ends of your table and sewing a very simple hem (or even using hem tape!)
Hope that helps,
The How to Decorate Team
