Ideas For Family Room Layout

Good afternoon,

I hope your day is going well. My wife and I have been struggling to find a good layout for our furniture in our Family Room (we are open to obtaining new/different furniture if necessary).

We need the room to be functional for the family. Currently there is a 32-inch flatscreen TV, which we will be upgrading in the not too distant future, to nothing larger than approximately 46 inches.

Thanks for any suggestions you might provide.

Neil and Emily,

Having a room that is functional and stylish can be accomplished through careful planning and lots of inspiration.

Based on the architecture of your room, we think you have created the most functional layout for your space.

We added a few functional pieces as well as some accent pieces, infusing a fresh attitude.

Since you will be updating your media equipment, we suggest starting with furniture that will accommodate your new purchase. Consider our Tuscan Media Cabinet in Cream as an option.

Now anchor this piece with rugs … 3 to be exact. Sometimes the shape of a room makes it difficult to find a rug to fit. Using multiple small rugs in a room can provide you a large rug look!!

Your room is the perfect shape for three 5×8 rugs lined up in a row.

Try recovering your chair in Belgrano Ikat Spa for a modern update and then nestle a Durham Tray Table beside it, along with a floor lamp.  Add a couple of Leather Poufs, in brown, to the right of the fireplace … perfect seating option for unexpected guest.

Also, consider a new piece of art over your mantel to pull colors together. We think Misty Morning Giclee will fit the need.

To provide subtle color to your space, add pillows to your existing sofa and love seat in French Stripe Blue, Chocolate Twill and Belgrano Ikat Spa.

Let’s add a couple of accent tables in the room that support functionality … but look awesome while accomplishing their task. Try our Durham Nesting Table in front of the sofa, the Benedetta Side table in Black tucked in the corner and our Annette Magazine Side Table resting by the love seat.

Always remember to add stunning table lamps to meet your lighting needs. To reflect this lighting, why not consider placing a mirror above the sofa? The Ogden mirror is a fabulous candidate for that spot!

Meeting your families functional needs never has to be ordinary or boring!

If you have a functional furniture layout then the next thing is to find beautiful furniture that will fit the functional needs.

Place a few accessories for pizzazz and … wow what a result!

Happy Decorating!
