If you’re interested in ordering replacement cushions, it’s important to get an accurate measurement before you order to ensure you receive the proper cushions to fit your outdoor furniture. We’ve discussed measuring and selecting the right replacement cushions before, but in order to help you get the most accurate measurement, we developed this handy guide! Read on for a step-by-step guide to measuring your outdoor cushions.
How to Measure for a Box-Edge Cushion
To get the most accurate measurement, we recommend using a straight edge board to help you measure! Follow the instructions below.
To measure the depth of a box-edge cushion, first place your box-edge cushion against the wall, taking care that there is no space between the wall and the cushion. Next, place a board against the outer edge of the cushion at the widest point. Then, measure between the wall and the board.
*Measurements should not differ using a straight ruler or fabric tape. The crown measurements must be the dimension requested of 1/4″ less that that. If the crown is larger than the dimension requested, it is still approved. Only if it is less than 1/4″ specified is it not approved.
To measure the height of a box-edge cushion, lay the cushion flat on the floor. Place a board on top of the cushion so it lays level. Then, measure the distance between the floor and the board.

How to Measure a Knife-Edge Cushion
To find the depth measurement of your knife-edge cushion, first place the cushion on the floor against a wall. Place a straight edge board against the outermost edge of the cushion to that the board is perpendicular to the floor, measure the distance between the board and the wall.

To find the height measurement of your knife-edge cushion, first place the cushion flat on the floor. Next, place a straight edge board on top of the cushion, so it lays parallel against the floor. Finally, measure the distance between the board and the floor.

How to Measure a Chaise Cushion
To measure the depth of your chaise cushion, first place both cushions flat on the floor and against the wall. Make sure that there is no space between each cushion. Next, place a straight edge board against the outer edge of the cushion at the widest point. Then, measure the distance between the wall and the board.

I have an iron table and 4 chairs set my neighbor gave me. I did not get a seat cushion w each chair & need to know how to measure. They are 19″ wide by 17″ deep if i measure the metal seat. I wanted to get a knife edge cushion because im unsure if they ever had cushions for the chairs. What do you think? Thanks

Hi Sue,
We can make some suggestions for you. It can be hard to match our cushions to patio sets that are different sizes than ours, but we’ll do our best! Simply complete this form (don’t forget to include photos and measurements!), and our design team will contact you with a plan and next steps!
