Nice cabinet, but needs the plinth base.Excellent cabinet for our home office. We didn't originally purchase the bottom riser piece, but ended up getting it, as the cabinets had slight gaps and look unfinished without something holding them together. Looks excellent with the shelf hutch on top and holds a ton of files!

Solid, well built and looks greatI was slightly hesitant about ordering furniture for my home office online, but didn't want to get into self-assembly or spending a lot more money on professional office-grade furniture.
I ordered the 3-cabinet credenza, with plinth and 3-drawer hutch, plus an additional 2-drawer filing cabinet and plinth, and was very impressed with the quality when they turned up. They were almost "over-packaged", but the quality of the packing meant that there wasn't a dent or scratch on anything when they arrived.
The website was slightly problematic, and wouldn't let me order certain items in the combinations and colours I wanted, but the helpful lady on the phone put my order through for me without a problem.
I was happy enough with my office furniture to then order a coffee table, which I'm also very pleased with, and would certainly order from Ballard Designs again in the future.

Really nice!I was a little bit skeptical of ordering an entire office worth of furniture w/out seeing the quality live, but this is REALLY nice. It looks great and the color/finish is a beautiful dark gray color. Assembly was minimal and quality of packing was great to prevent damage.
Looks fantastic and the plinth bases are good too.

Solid quality and beauty have increased my organization!For Christmas, at my request, my husband got me a 3-piece set, plus the hutch, for a total of 12 drawers and 3 shelves. I've placed my filing in the 2-drawer chest, and the kids' craft stuff fits in all the rest of the drawers. The pieces are solid and roll smoothly, plus you cannot open one drawer when another is open, which prevents toppling. We did follow the instructions and attached everthing to studs in the wall, however. I actually told my therapist that I am feeling more in control of my life now because I immediately file incoming papers rather than creating a huge pile to be addressed later.

Solidly Built but Off-gassesI purchased this piece with the accompanying hutch to organize my office. It looks great and is solidly built. The only drawback is both pieces off-gassed considerably. To solve this issue, I opened all the drawers, closed the office door, then operated a space heater in the room to accelerate the off-gassing. Then, I opened all the windows to flush out the VOCs. I did this for about 3 days and it worked.

Wood top credenza and filing cabinetElevates your office look by making several filing cabinets look like one. You have the ability to configure and customize the types of drawers to your needs. They come mostly assembled and fel very sturdy. Finish is nice but not quite as nice as I was expecting. Customer Service was excellent and items were packed well.

Really nice, but . . .Received and set up a 3 cabinet credenza today. Arrived quickly and set up was simple. I got some tools out expecting to need something, but no tools required. Looks nice - just as advertised in the pictures. Feels like good quality and should hold up nicely in a home office. Only issue is on the 3-drawer file cabinet the top 2 drawers are not full extention - which was advertised. The file drawers are full extention.

Good looking solid product!We ordered the 3-cabinet credenza along with the desk with base plinths. All pieces arrived in excellent condition, unpacked and set up reasonably easily. This is a very nice looking and solid furniture collection, especially for the price. The cabinets are manufactured wood, however, not solid pine as advertised in the print catalog. Unfortunately, we had to return everything as we have a family member with multiple chemical sensitivities who cannot tolerate the off-gassing from manufactured wood products. Ballard customer support was extremely accommodating, agreeing to a full refund including shipping costs both ways. That's customer support! So, if you don't mind manufactured wood (which is common in furniture products today), this is a great buy.

This product is true to the merchandise description.I am very satisfied with the Credenza and was pleased with the design options offered. Shipping was prompt and delivery was swift. My only suggestion would be to improve the drawer pulls to a more comfortable design to assist opening. Perhaps more of a handle style than the "finger hook" shape.

Great product but needs more color optionsI have been looking for an affordable wood file cabinet for home office for several months. This product is the best price and quality unit I could find so I decided to take a chance the color would match my desk. Unfortunately the Tuscan is more red than my brown desk. The unit is great for the price so I am keeping it but it would be nice if there were more color options.

The product did not meet expectationsWe bought two corner desks flanked with a single cabinet and separated by a three cabinet credenza. A combination of five cabinets:a.two drawer-one file drawer, b&c. two shelves(2ea), d. two file drawers, and e. four drawers.

Packing for shipping-Excellent-heavy duty boxes, well padded.
File drawers-good suspension-very functional-14 3/4" deep
Small drawers-very poor suspension-very shallow 13" deep drawer -1 3/4" less than file drawers-std pencil trays do not fit. obvious attempt to cut production cost.
Corner desk tops-bad support design.inadequate support.
Looks great, ok for light or casual home use, but considering the negatives, not a good value for every day home office use.

Looks good.....butThe piece is solid and well built. The only thing I would suggest is to add at least another option for the brown color. I purchased this piece in brown, hoping it was a good shade if brown, but was extremely disappointed. The brown color was more reddish. It looked like old fashioned fancy cherry color and was very outdated. I immediately refinished it and am now in love with it.

Had to pay for LocksmithThe two drawer locking cabinet arrived, but the key did not unlock it. They sent another. It did not unlock it. Did not want to ship back because very heavy and I am not that strong to move with hernia. Had to hire a Locksmith who had to take out lock. Turned out the mechanism was what was defective inside. Bummer. Cost me $85, now have hole in my unit. Love the unit configurations though. Just wish the mechanism quality would have worked or I had someone I could ask to ship back.
