We want you to be happy. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 90 days of the ship date for an exchange or refund (excluding Shipping & Processing fees). All products are guaranteed from defects for a full year.

Please carefully inspect your order upon delivery. If you receive damaged or defective merchandise, you may contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-536-7551 and a representative will be glad to arrange a return or exchange for you.

Please note: Any items that are monogrammed, customized, Customer's Own Material (COM), or made-to-order cannot be modified, cancelled, returned or exchanged unless damaged or defective. Defective items will be exchanged unless no longer available, in which case a Merchandise Certificate will be issued. Once a returned item is received in our warehouse, the return or exchange will be processed immediately. For credit card orders, you can expect to see your refund credit within 72 hours. What To Expect For Truck Deliveries


  1. After your items have shipped, you will be contacted by our delivery partner to schedule a day and 4 hour window for your delivery.
  2. When scheduling, share any restrictions or special circumstances that could impact your delivery including, but is not limited to:
    • Narrow roads
    • Restricted delivery times
    • Gated entrances
    • Proof of insurance requirements
    • Multiple flights of stairs
    • Service elevator restrictions
  3. Ensure that all items will fit through access points such as doorways, stairways, hallways, elevators, and around corners into the desired location.
  4. On the day of delivery, our delivery partner will call you approximately 30 minutes prior to arriving at your home.
  5. Please prepare for your delivery by ensuring clear pathways and removing any fragile items that could be damaged during the delivery. Our delivery provider is unable to move any existing furniture.
  6. Our delivery experience is contactless and your signature is not required. If you observe an imperfection, notify the delivery team and either refuse the item or contact us at 888-263-9850 for a resolution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Decent couch, horrendous customer experience. I ordered this couch in November 2020 with confirmation of delivery in February 2021. The couch was delayed not once, but twice, making my delivery date go from February 2021 to March 2021 to April 2021. Additionally, the actual dates of the delivery windows in each month changed and I was told by a representative that they were virtually meaningless, which was unpleasant news to receive given that I’d changed travel plans multiple times in order to be home to receive the delivery. At one point I called because the shipment date they set had passed and I’d heard nothing for days. The response from the customer service representative was that “they’re behind on updating the order and don’t know the status.” The representatives blamed COVID for the delays, but given that COVID was well underway by November 2020, I believe that Ballard is consciously deceiving its customers when providing the original delivery dates, knowing that no one would order a piece of furniture that would arrive in half a year when competitive vendors won't take as long. When I finally received the email that the product was at the shipping facility, I experienced additional issues. My apartment requires a COI for furniture deliveries and I provided that information up front. The shipping company was extremely delayed in processing it, and I called several times to get an update and the representatives seemed to have no clue as to why the COI was taking so long. Of course, this delayed my delivery even further. I found the COI issue quite strange because with all other furniture vendors I've ordered from, it has never taken more than 24 hours. Further, when I finally was able to schedule the delivery, I was told that the product was not marked for in-home delivery and that my couch would be left in a box in my hallway. Suffice it to say I of course opted for in-home delivery when I ordered the couch as opposed to having an enormous couch, fully packaged, left in the hall of my residential apartment building. Another issue I had is that I started receiving Ballard Designs catalogues in the mail despite having never signed up from their mailing list. This wasn’t ideal given that I was already experiencing a slew of issues and inconveniences. I had to ask more than once before it was confirmed I would be removed from the mailing list, and even so, the representative said I would still receive the magazines for up to 6 months. A cherry on top of this experience is that Ballard double charged my credit card for the couch - i.e. 2 charges of over $4K, and pushed me over my credit limit so I had to deal with my bank. All of the aforementioned issues resulted in upwards of 30 calls with customer service and several email communications. I noticed a pattern where the customer service representatives I spoke with promised they’d follow up with me about the issue I’d called about, and then were radio silent, so I had to call again and start all over. Additionally, it took multiple attempts to get a response to simple questions such as what the care instructions are for the product. Overall, it really does not seem that Ballard Designs trains their customer service representatives to an adequate standard. I truly have never had even close to as deeply disappointing and troubling a customer experience as I had with Ballard Designs. As it stands, I do not believe that Ballard is a brand you cannot trust or rely on. As far as the couch, it is nice besides the fact that the feathers in the cushions poke out all the time and need to be removed, creating small holes in the fabric. Not worth the cost, effort, or emotional toll.
