Perfect solution to laundry room needReceived this shelf extremely well packaged as always with Ballard. The shelf was installed with some difficulty and I had to ask our handyman to help line it up properly. Appreciate its sturdiness, depth of shelf and mostly the rod hanging below the shelf (and reason I purchased it) works perfectly for hanging hand washables over my utility sink in my laundry room

Tough hanging, but worth it.I turned a small bedroom into a fancy boudoir closet type room, and used the valet shelves and the valet shelving with rods. The shelves are surprising large and heavy. Like the other reviews stated, you have to use more than the mini screws that comes with the shelves, so there is that. I used much longer screws with anchors and used to a stud finder to put the shelves into studs. They have been up and carrying weight for a couple weeks and haven't fallen. Other than the undersized hanging kit, I've been pleased with the shelves. They are beautiful and nice quality. After I sell this house, I plan to take them with me and use them again.

Park your guests' coat and hat here without fuss!We have a limit to the space in our new remodel and this fits the form and function just inside the front door. All parts are sturdy and very attractive as well as useful. I would give it 5 stars but we haven't been able to hang it up and use it as the remodel is not yet ready.

Valet help neededThe valet shelf with a rod was exactly what I was looking for in the laundry room to dry things not suitable for the dryer. However, there were no pre-drilled holes for the bracket attachment as described in the assembly instructions which made installation more difficult. I did contact customer service and was offered a replacement shelf but I was able to enlist the help of a neighbor who had the proper drill bit.

Use with cautionThe shelf didn't have pre-drilled holes to attach the hanging rod. For the amount of money this shelf costs, it seems that would be simple addition. The other issue is it should come with a weight warning. We hung the shelf. One side into a stud and the other with the included screw and plastic casing (It only has two connecting holes). I hung several sweaters and put a few shoe boxes on the shelf and within 8 hours it pulled completely out of the wall ripping out the sheetrock. We will re-hang with steel molly bolts and I guess I will hang t-shirts instead of sweaters to ensure it isn't too weighted.

Nice, but more work than anticipatedGood quality and well packed/no shipping damage. However, the shelf had no pre-drilled holes to attach the brackets. Customer service was very helpful: offered to immediately ship another (for which I’d rightfully be charged), and full refund for the defective shelf once it was received back by Ballard. Second shelf arrived with the same issue, so I just measured/drilled my own holed to attach the brackets. Additionally, I agree that you’ll need to purchase more substantial mounting hardware/anchors than those that come with the shelf. Ultimately, it looks great and does its job, but loses stars for issues with quality control & undo labor for buyer... and having to repack/haul return to UPS.

Good idea, needed tweaking.Bought this about a year ago. This shelf is great in my laundry room, and I use the hanging rod everyday, but my husband had to modify it. The wooden board was too heavy, it fell forward twice ripping everything off the wall. He ended up cutting a new board out of a much lighter weight wood, then anchored the shelf separately to the wall, and again with the rack. A lot of work for the price. Maybe it is a lighter weight shelf now, but be careful!

Great shelving but...I bought 2 of these shelves for my laundry room. One came with the holes drilled to attach the metal brackets and one didn't. I called customer service and they agreed to replace the one without the holes drilled. When the replacement arrived, it too had no holes! I had to take the replacement shelf to someone to holes drilled so I could mount it to the wall. It looks great now that it is up, but what a pain to have to deal with such a lack of quality control.

Valet Shelf with RodThis is the second one I’ve ordered with no holes on the shelf. I returned the fist one. It requires exact measuring and drilling. The instructions indicate it has holes drilled already. It’s an expensive shelf and should have pre-drilled holes. I wasn’t impressed.

Shelf Not Drilled for InstallationI am not the only one to review that they received a shelf with no drill holes. I also agree with another review that you will need to go buy longer wall screws. I was ok to buy new screws, but I am not OK with drilling holes in the shelf. The shelf is also WAY too heavy. They should use a lighter shelf so the shelf can be used, not just look pretty.
