However I couldn't find a classic, tall buffet lamp in these exact colors (ordered antique brass with the cream linen shade). The lamp is absolutely perfect, very tall, substantial, and dramatic as a pair placed in front of a tall mirror. Ordered two for a console table. Wanted to write this review because the first one-star review is confusing and frankly not accurate at all. The lamps easily take a standard 60-watt bulb, and the shade easily clips right to the bulb. I also tried a standard 3-way bulb, and it worked perfectly. I would encourage buyers not to let that review discourage you from purchasing this lamp as it easily accepts standard lightbulbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by magmarlin04 from Beautiful classic lamp I bought two of these lamps recently in the fold with the light linen shade, and I love them. I saw the review about the lightbulbs but I just bought one of the 3 way philips LED ones (after checking to make sure the equivalent wattage would work) and it works just beautifully! The only thing to note is that this is a tall lamp, so if you have a short cabinet, it might look a little large. These would work beautifully on a longer console or long buffet.

The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that when the black shade is lite, it looks purple instead of black. While unlit however, the color is a dramatic black. If you can use a lighter shade, it will be a beautiful accent piece for your room. The actual lamp is well made and lovely.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nickles from Nice Lamp, but . . . I really like this lamp. I bought a pair in Antique Brass with the Isabella Drum shade. It looks very pretty; however, very disappointed that a finial was not included. Before the shade could be attached, I had to go to the hardware store and purchase a finial that would attach to the light bulb. It also required a couple of washers to keep the shade in place. I contacted customer service beforehand to ask if a finial had been mistakenly left out. "No, sorry - that's the way it comes", they told me. It's not a big deal but it's annoying. The shade still sits a little wobbly. A lamp at this price should come complete and be perfect. And that is why I rate it three stars!

Rated 3 out of 5 by negraham001 from Nice buffet lamp Bought these lamps to use on my buffet and to frame an antique map hanging on the wall. The lamps were a bit higher than I expected, but work well with the framed art. I bought the brass version and in bright sunlight, the base and top of the lamp appear to be a more golden color brass than the straight part of the lamp (in the middle, which appears bright brass colored). Other than that, seems to be a quality lamp.

Rated 3 out of 5 by je1058 from No Barrel Shades Available for this Lamp We bought a pair of these lamps in a mall Ballard Designs location and the person who sold them to us asked what shade we wanted. We asked what our options were and she pulled up a large list of shade options. We chose a barrel shade and when the lamps arrived, there was no way for the shade to attach to the lamp. So, we emailed Ballard to ask what to do and they said it was a mistake that this shade was made available for this lamp and to pick another shade design and they would ship it for free. Well this took a week of back and forth in email with a different customer service person who wanted me to buy new shades. Eventually, I asked that person to escalate this issue to a supervisor and read the email chain, where the first email is advising they'd ship it free. They ultimately did, they also removed the barrel shades from being an option for this lamp. Overall, the lamp is nice, heavy and well-made. Just be sure you select the proper clip on style shade from their list.

The other one I sent back due to a frayed cord, and the replacement had a switch that didn't click into on or off. Waiting on a third replacement and hoping it is also perfect, or will send both back.

The new one is metal and love the cord. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is that the new 3-way socket does not work. After trying several replacement bulbs, I determined it was the lamp.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Bocalily from Nice Lamps But..... I bought a pair of the lamps in the nickel finish with blue silk shades. The construction and design is nice. However, the finish is a bit on the dark side for me. If I would have seen these in person I probably would have passed on them. They were pretty expensive for being such a disapppointment. They weren't quite a fit for the original place I thought I was going to put them. I was needing something a bit more elegant and these are more on the country french or rustic side.... I probably should have bought something that I could see in person. Good design and construction.

I had to return it and i am now waiting on the other shade that hopefully will work. It's somewhere on a ship out in the Pacific and my estimated time of delivery is the end of January. I purchased these shades and lamp in November.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Thiaanne from Poor design This item has a 3-way light switch on it. It says it takes a 3-way bulb with a maximum wattage of 60 watts. Apparently the 60 watt max is because of the lampshade. I'd never seen a 3-way 60 watt max bulb but assumed it would be easy to find. The only option is a CFL. This fact emerged after looking everywhere, locally and on-line, for either an incandescent or LED and finding none and after numerous emails with customer service. It was not stated in the product specifications when I purchased the lamps. Now some of you may be fine with CFL bulbs but I am not, especially in a lamp with a clip on shade. If you don't mind using a CFL then this might be a fine lamp for you. It is attractive enough. It looks like the photo. And I was happy enough with that to buy two of them. So my complaint is with the bulb options for the light. A plain 60 watt bulb seems to work, lighting on the second click and staying on for the third click. So the lamps do function with an incandescent bulb but you lose the 3-way function. Also, you'd better have a thin hand in order to get under the shade to turn the light off and on. But maybe that wouldn't be a problem with a CFL as it is shaped differently from an incandescent. I'd probably have given this lamp 3 or maybe even 4 stars if it had been designed with a single on/off switch for a 60 watt bulb. If the specs had stated only readily available bulbs that work in this lamp are CFLs I would not have purchased them.
