Perfect!!!Love this stool!!! We wanted a minimalist look for our counter. Fit the bill perfectly. They are very sturdy and we like the finish on them. The little back support really works. Only thing they need are better pads for the feet. The ones they come with only last a couple of days and then become unstuck. They do need something if they are to be used on tile or wood flooring but easy to remedy with new ones from the hardware store.

Sturdier than I expected.This stool is great, and sturdier than I expected. I chose the black iron because we had previously purchased (not from Ballard) some wooden counter stools. Out of four stools, two of them cracked along the backs the first time someone sat in them.
These black iron stools are very well made and fit both contemporary and classic design tastes.
The backs are a little lower than I was expecting, but I have really grown to like that feature because it doesn't obstruct the view through to the kitchen in my open floor plan home. :)

Happy with these bar stoolsJust the height we needed. The backs provide a bit of support, but they're short enough that we can tuck the chairs under the counter. Chairs are a good weight -- heavy enough that they're substantial, light enough that they're easy to move. We really like how they look too.
If you use them a lot, I'd recommend investing in cushions -- can get uncomfortable after awhile otherwise.

Really great design--unlike any otherI am trying to bridge the illusive gap between traditional and modern in my kitchen and these stools are perfect at my island. I haven't seen anything like them anywhere else. Their design is so simple that they don't look too anything--they're perfect. Also, they are very well made--heavy and sturdy with a surface that can take life's hard knocks without chipping.

Strong and BeautifulI love the architectural, industrial look of these stools. They arrived assembled (a plus), and ready to use after I put felt pads on the feet. They are perfect for a quick meal or snack at the breakfast bar. I wanted stools that weren't "the same old thing" but also didn't break the bank - the Rutland Stool fits the bill!

Looks greatThis is a great looking stool. It has an artisan feel to it, but it is not American made, of course.
The quality is good, albeit a simple construction method and materials. For what it is, it seems overpriced. Nonetheless, we have received compliments from visitors on the look and uniqueness of these stools.
Comfort is good. Others have noted that the support cross-braces are uncomfortable on the feet - which is true if you are in bare or stocking feet, without shoes. Otherwise, the stool is comfortable to sit on for reasonable periods of time, at least.

Sturdy, nicely designed counter stoolI bought three of these for my kitchen island. They're a true black color, and the design is simple and modern. They're sturdy and don't tip easily-- I have a 2 year old who climbs on and off them all day and even at 30lbs, doesn't tip them. Like any piece of furniture that rests on hard wood/tile floor, you'll need to add gripper pads to the bottom of the feet to keep the stools from sliding, and to protect your floors, but those are inexpensive and easy to find.

Disappointed in the QualityI have recently ordered five major items from Ballard and been thrilled with all of them but these bar stools. The back was welded a little cockeyed, the legs didn't sit flush, and overall it was a very anemic-looking effort. Not the quality I have come to expect from Ballard. Everything else I have gotten from them has been absolutely top notch, though, so I will not hold these against them. I will be going to the trouble to ship four of these back, though.

looks great, very uncomfortable.I purchased these bars stools because I absolutely love the look. Unfortunately they are the most uncomfortable stools to sit on. I then purchased pads for them, still very uncomfortable. All in all not a good product.
