It does not marry you only to a coastal look. I have it in a den with dark leather chairs and it’s complimentary and a nice contrast. I chose the white linen drum shade and am pleased. It reads more towards white and not cream and that’s what I wanted. I don’t like LED bright light so I chose old school candescent 3 way bulb and it gives off great light.
