Very versatile and great qualitySo we bought several pieces from the Original home office group to design our own corner desks to fit our space. After reading about each piece and measuring - we decided to order 2 corner desks but we did one file drawer on one side of the desk and two on the other, so a modified version of this. All of this comes assembled except for the corner desk, you need to attach it to each side cabinet. We decided to get the stands and the white tops for all our pieces, looks great! If you are rough on your furniture, I could see where the white desk top could get beat up, I would say you could custom order glass to put over or you could order the metal top. Shipping was super quick, all items came is great condition, the risers are literally set, you just place the filing cabinets in it, and the tops just get put on top, super easy. It was harder for us to dispose of all of the cardboard boxes and packing material.

Perfect DeskPurchased the white desk with wood top. Great looking desk and decent quality. Arrived with no damage due to shipping. Packaged well. Easy to put together...not much to put together. The top pieces are held together with brackets and screws. Directions stated there were pre drilled holes and there wasn’t. I put the desk together myself and I’m a 57 year old female. It would have been nice if the holes were there or another set of hands to hold the tops tightly together to get the holes in a good place so the tops could be snugger than I was able to get it. The paint on one of the tops is cracked in the seam but a call to customer service is getting this replaced. They were very pleasant and helpful. I didn’t buy the risers when the desk was purchased but I have them on order now. Highly recommend getting the risers for a better height. Overall, very happy with the purchase and Ballad Designs.

A fine choiceI am very pleased with the office furniture. It is cleverly designed with its plinth system and file drawers. It is well made in its pricing category, and is solid and relatively easily assembled even by a single person. And it is handsome, with a lovely finish and attractive touches, such as its label-style drawer pulls. A winner in every category!

New desk for my home office!I love the desk! Once it all came. It came in several shipments spread out. It is beautiful and a perfect update to my office. One file cabinet was scratched significantly upon opening of the box. I am reaching out to Ballard to see how they can fix it. Hopefully they will make me completely satisfied!

Love this Unit-With one ExceptionThis a great unit (I purchased two filing cabinets and the corner desk top).I recommend it for what it does functionally, specifically- by making use of a corner. For those of you, like me, that have a room with windows on both sides, the PC is out of direct light and allows working all times of day. Also, the screen is not "in the window" which is a pet peeve of mine. My only complaint- or perhaps recommendation- is be CAREFUL. The laminate seems to chip easily. I can fix it with a little white wood putty, and it's a "working" desk so I anticipate wear and tear, but it disturbs me that within two weeks of set up, I have dings. Wah!

Zinc top corner deskAs other reviewers have commented, a bit difficult and unwieldy to assemble. Even with the zinc top, the pre-drilled holes don't line up perfectly. But the top looks really nice, and the file cabinets are of good quality. I opted for the plinth bases for extra height (based on other reviews), and glad I did.

Great small deskSmall desk that is great for laptop & 2nd monitor. Great quality and very simple to put together. Wish width of open area to sit was slightly wider, as sitting in chair and opening drawers is a bit tight, esp if chair has arms.

Corner Desk GroupThe desk is great. The assembly not so much. The directions mention pre-drilled holes to connect the 3 top pieces. After a couple calls to customer service I was told The directions are incorrect and that the wood was soft enough for me to attach the brackets with a screwdriver. I did so without given any direction as to the spacing of said brackets. Fingers crossed.

Bought it (again)This is the second of these desks I have ordered. I had one 8 years ago and loved it, but gave it to our son when he bought his first house. Fast forward, and now we are in a new, smaller home where I wanted to find a desk with plenty of storage to fit in a loft office space. I found myself disappointed by some of the “quality” furniture store products, and decided this desk was again one of my better options. Both times I purchased the desk in the black finish. This time the desk top surface appears to be more prone to scratches and scuff marks; nonetheless, it works well for my needs. It arrived quickly, packaged in more then enough cardboard and styrofoam to arrive without any damage, was simple
to put together, and provides me the file storage I need in a small space. I do wish this desk design had a lower bookshelf exterior corner unit option that could fit an all-in-one printer on it. The open bookshelf design they offer can only be accessed from the front; if they turned the open side to the wider run of the cabinet it would work, but as it is with the opening on the narrow, front side of the unit, it does not fit a printer. Alas, I had to set my printer on the desk, which does take up some of my work space, but it’s the best option for now. It’s because of this, as well as the easily scuffed desk top surface, I give this 4 stars instead of 5. As an aside, I did visit the Atlanta Ballard Design store to look at the other finish options in person, thinking I might go with the white this time; however, the white finish seemed pretty beat up and I was worried in the long run this would not hold up well for me. I am not a fan of the brown stain either as it does not match some of my other wood furniture and I didn’t want a hodge lodge of furniture finishes clashing. So it was again the black finish I chose; black can always be touched up easily with a bit of black paint or even a black sharpie in a pinch.

Perfect fit!Love it! But I could not install the corner top because the two side file cabinet tops did not come with the pre-drilled holes. I had to hire a handyman to come drill the holes and put it together for me.

Great desk for my corner space!I love furniture from Ballard! This corner desk system fits well for the space I have. I already had a file cabinet, so I ordered the corner top and another side unit separately. There were no pre-drilled holes to attach the top to the side units like the directions said. But I had to be a little creative to get it to fit (my fault), so the brackets weren't needed right now. Also, the wood top has a strong smell which has taken a while to air out. No problems with the finish, its beautiful and I love it!

Decent productNot difficult to put together. The instructions indicated to use the predrilled holes to attach the two side but there were no predrilled holes. I worked it out and drilled my own. Also the desk appears a bit low from my personal view. I’m sure it’s fine for most people. However we learned later that there is a plinth,a footing, that we ordered for $159. The whole deal is a little pricey but looks good and we’re glad we bought it. The drawers have smal(l finger pulls that make it hard to open and could have been better designed. I’m going to try to adjust the slide so it’s easier to open. That should take care of it. Ballard is easy to deal with and will

Nice deskI like the desk overall, it works perfect in my space. The things I don't care too much for is the wood is a little soft and dents/scratches easy, the rails/glides on the drawers are not the greatest and for my situation the back of the desk/cabinets are not finished so when you have your desk facing out and not against a wall it doesn't look very good, but I found a solution that worked nicely for me. We added wainscoting to the "front" (actually the back) of the desk to make it look finished and it turned out fine. I do love that it's modular and you can make it how big or small you need it.

Good quality desk for small spaceThe Original Home Office Corner Desk is very nice for my SMALL office. The quality is pretty good. I just think this desk is very expensive. I was unable to find anything else for my small room that wasn't flimsy. Overall pretty pleased with the desk.

Smart Look, Quality ConstructionI am quite pleased with my corner desk. I have been using it for several months now. In fact, I got a whole office full of Original Home Office Furniture in the dark gray with zinc tops, and I love the look. A couple of comments about the corner desk: Be aware that the angle of the desk means you are almost always sitting in the way of any drawer you are going to open. Minor inconvenience. Also, despite this desk being for a corner, I wanted it positioned in the middle of a wall. Unfortunately, the back of the desk, though painted, is not finished nicely. And finally, I was hoping the zinc top would be more durable than wood, but I am finding it scratches just as easily, and it arrived with a couple of dings. As for other reviewers' complaints about assembly, I had to hire someone to assemble it for me, so he had all the proper tools and was paid not to complain #ha#, but I do think he found assembly a bit challenging!

Flexible systemI admit it - I'm a serial furniture rearranger. I love this system. We have several pieces - in black - for our awkwardly shaped home office. We were able to come up with a great arrangement that works well in the space, and I love knowing I can move it around later if I want to! I shied away from five stars only because the edges of the black desktop have worn significantly. Otherwise, it's been sturdy and dependable, and still looking good after 5 years!

Overall Quality Desk for the PriceI'd read the reviews posted on the corner desk w/two 1-cabinet credenzas and was a bit hesitant to purchase. However, my experience was very good. The order came quickly, was well packaged so as not to be damaged, is sturdy and was, overall, easy to put together (I am a 40-year old female and put this together myself). The desk is attractive and the grey shade looks very nice.

Good home office furnitureI purchased several pieces from this collection in black. It looks really classy but the table top where the computer sits has already worn off a little bit from regular wear and tear. I also purchased the one drawer cabinet with shelves to put my computers (don't like closed ones) and it has gotten scratches easily from putting the computers in. Overall it's very nice, came packaged nicely, only one piece was slightly scratched but it was in the back.

Notes on assemblyI ordered the corner desk unit along with several other pieces from this collection. The color and materials appear to be good quality.
If you order this unit, however, be aware of assembly issues. The corner desk top needs to be attached to the back leg support as well as the neighboring work surfaces. The screws included for these tasks are too short, so I used longer screws to get the job done. Also, the support leg for the back of the corner desk top is not particularly stable/sturdy, so I added extra support with 4 small metal L-brackets that I happened to have in my tool box.

Desk is a mixed bagThe good: desk is solidly made and the perfect size for my needs. The bad: instructions were confusing and actually incorrect as the support person at Ballard confirmed. Some holes were not pre-drilled, making it impossible to assemble the desk without additional tools. This is the result of a switch in manufacturers. Unacceptable. But must critically, the design is fatally flimsy, and the entire desk collapsed once because of insufficient support. We had to use duct tape to increase the desk’s stability.
Knowing then what I know now, I would probably have passed on this desk. Not a good impression of Ballard here.
