The seat cushions are firm, but not rigid and the back cushions are soft with just enough support. It is a classic looking piece and we are very happy with our purchase.

The only downside is that the standard cushion fabric is a magnet for the slightest mark. While a light color is always a challenge with stains, this particular fabric holds onto dirt and pollen stains really easily - it might become a problem longer term.
