Beautiful chairsThis is the first time I've bought furniture online, and the first time buying from Ballard designs. Striped beautiesThe Harris Counter stools were recommended by the Ballard Designer. They are as beautiful in person as they were online. The fabric is lovely and the upholstery was done to perfection. What a statement they make at our kitchen island. Very comfortable too.

Although the stools will never be out of sight at your island, the height of the back is perfect as it doesn’t obstruct your view & make a statement depending on the fabric you choose. Lovely stool, great craftsmanshipI ordered a fourth stool to go with the 3 I had already purchased. The first 3 took quite a long time to arrive, but this one came fairly quickly. The stool is lovely and the upholstery is expertly done. It is very sturdy and the perfect counter height. We will enjoy these for years to come.

Great, affordable pieceThis is my first time ordering furniture from Ballard and I must say I am impressed with both the comfort of this design and the skill of the upholstering. The chair seats fan outward substantially toward the front, making them quite comfortable, and the back of the seat goes to my mid back, which is more than enough support for me. I just received my chairs but they appear to be quite sturdy and were packed to ensure no damage was incured during shipment. The finish on the legs of the stools is unexpectedly nice as well, much nicer than what it appeared on a swatch I ordered. Overall, this was an excellent purchase that I will enjoy for a long time!

Nice, but not firm enough.I had 4 Harris Counter Stools covered in custom fabric, Ikat Red, and Koko Black. They all turned out nice looks-wise, however the seat cushions are a little too "spongy" when sitting on them and are not as firm as I would like. This causes the occupant to sit too low at the counter bar, especially if they're on the heavier side. I am trying to find some kind of risers to attach to the legs to give them more height. There were also a couple of wobbly chairs due to the foot protectors improperly placed.

Overall good with one problemOverall I like these stools. I purchased the Harris Counter Stool with the Dove Gray and Marlton Red fabric. They are appealing and I like the design of the fabric. They are also comfortable. The reason for only 4 stars is because the stool I received a week ago already wobbles. The other two are fine but I find the wobbling so irritating especially at this price point. I'm very disappointed that it's not sturdy.

Beautiful but not a custom lookBeautiful, comfortable, sturdy stools - I ordered 3. The upholstery is beautiful (I chose pattern ‘document brown’). The craftsmanship is great. Unfortunately the way the upholstery was installed on the stools is identical which give it a cheaper, mass produced appearance - and does not look custom. The catalogue said pattern layout would vary on each item - and that is what I anticipated and hoped for - something that looks custom - not cookie cutter. Also the stool is about 1 1/2 inches shorter than my previous counter stools; I did not think that would make a difference, but it makes the stools less comfortable when sitting at counter and using a computer.

Counter stools pretty but not greatWas disappointed that my counter stools have an unusually high footrest (and I’m only 5’4”); it seems as if the brace was placed at the wrong height. But, as they were a custom order that took 3 months, I just have to live with them. I recommend anyone get a sample of wood colors as the one I chose is a much darker stain than pictured online.

Love the seats, hate the leg finish...looks fake!The chairs are very comfortable and the company delivered a "customers own material" order in record time considering I placed the order during a pandemic. I am very unhappy however with
the painted on wood look of the legs rather than a real wood leg! They may be real wood but the finish is not real wood. It looks cheap and you can see the brush strokes of the brown stain or paint in order to try to create the wood look. I am not happy about that at all and am not sure what to do about it. I would have to sand and repaint every leg of the stools and hope I don't get any on the fabric! UGH!

These don't wear well - only last 3 yearsI had loved these barstools! Purchased almost exactly 3 years ago and they are already wearing through. They are very comfortable and stylish, but for this price I expected them to last longer. 2 of the 6 I purchased have already frayed. I expect the other to do the same. Very sad. I usually love Ballard Designs but this is not to my expectations.

Poor workmanship.Unfortunately, the workmanship is poor. The chairs rock because the placement of the floor protectors on the bottoms of the legs was very haphazard and makes them out of balance. The stitching on the backs left gaps in the material and the material is now very wavy. We have ordered replacements and just hope they are made with better detail in the workmanship. We really like the color and style.

Upholstery job not qualityI wish they did, but Ballard just does not do a good job with upholstered furniture. Two stools arrived with weird lumps on the back where the batting wasn’t done correctly. They are replacing one of them (the worst one), but the quality is just not great. I ordered several pieces from Ballard 8 years ago, they were all terrible - thought I’d try again in case their contractors had improved, but no luck. The good news is that their customer service then and now is great, but who wants to waste their time with returns/replacements? Get it right the first time.
