Not just another pretty chair!I felt a bit guilty after I ordered this chair. I’d longed for it for years, and after finally sitting in one at a Ballard location, I decided it was time. It was more money than I typically spend on ANY piece of furniture, and on a desk chair? It just seemed wasteful. I’d recently begun working from home, though, and I needed something comfortable. I’d broken my tailbone previously, and though it’s healed, it will still ache.
THIS IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE DESK CHAIR I’VE EVER ENCOUNTERED! That’s including the Herman Miller mesh chair I used to have at work. 8-10 hours, and no tailbone discomfort to speak of. My troublesome back is happy in this chair, too. And it’s GORGEOUS!

Beautiful chair, great profileI ordered two of these chairs back in November, received end of January with custom fabric and the chairs are really gorgeous. While it took several weeks to receive from date of order the custom upholstery work is perfect. Really turned out better than I had imagined it would. The leg finish is beautiful as well. Very pleased with my purchase.

Style, comfort and functionality all in one!I just received my new Gramercy Desk Chair and I love it! It was the final piece of furniture for my new home office...and was worth the wait. It was upholstered beautifully in my own fabric and is very comfortable. Being able to adjust the height is key for a desk chair. I also didn't realize how much I needed the swivel given how my desk is situated. I would highly recommend this chair.

Almost perfect!I searched for nearly 4 months online to find the "perfect" chair for my home office. I did find one and it was going to cost me $2,000. I kept watching this chair hoping a review would be posted. Well I finally took a chance and ordered the chair as I had been sitting on a dining room chair for over 4 months. I knew the back was not going to be as high as I would have liked but again that would have cost me $2,000. I really wish Ballard had offered a higher back chair to lean your head on that was simple looking like this chair. I supplied my own fabric for a custom order. I could not have been more pleased when it arrived as scheduled. The chair is well made and comfortable to sit in (i am 5'3"). The wheels on the chair work well (i have it on a chair mat over carpet) and it moves easily up and down. The wood on the base of the chair is rich looking (black) and the upholstery was well done. It is a nice quality (could have a bit more cushion in the seat) and was worth the wait and price. I would order it again.

Beautiful and comfy!Just received my Gramercy desk chair that I ordered in early December. Was worth the wait! I had it upholstered in Schumacher’s Camden check in indigo. Delivered in perfect condition by 2 very nice and professional delivery men. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars is that the pattern matching is a little bit off.

Comfortable and gorgeousI love, love this chair. The only reason I took off a star is that I ordered the dove gray finish but received the black. I decided that it goes fine with my decor so didn't send it back. The chair is so comfortable and such a relief to sit in after months of sitting in a hard, uncomfortable one. And the fabric is so pretty!

Good chair except fabric is splitting after less than 2 months of useThis would be a great chair however I have had it less than 2 months and the fabric is splitting along the seam. It is covered in white sunbrella and I will be calling Ballard to find out what can be done about this.

Beautiful less quality in cushion than previousThe chair itself is beautiful. The fabric was actually much better than I anticipated and I believe looks much richer in person than in the photo . This is my second gramercy chair because I loved the first one so much. I am disappointed though so far in the cushion - I can really feel the support pieces through the fabric and there are already indentations where my legs are on the chair something I did not experience in the first chair . I question the quality of the seating and doubt this one will last at all for 10 years like my first one did. I am only about 125 lbs so for the cushion to do this after only a month I am disappointed as it was not an inexpensive purchase .

not worth the moneyNot worth the price. The chair sits crooked on the center base post. my husband actually pointed it out and then after inspecting also noticed the top of the chair where they pull the fabric taught for upholstering - is frayed. So disappointed. Either don’t bother and get a cheap chair or go to a real custom furniture or upholsterer.

The adjustable height armThe adjusting height arm broke off when I tried to adjust the height. Excessive force was not used to push down on the arm. I waited 4-5 months for the chair and I used custom fabric. Haven’t investigated repair. Just living with it for now. It’s attractive and comfortable, except it sinks to the lowest height when I sit down and jumps up to the highest height when I stand up.
