Just what I was looking for!I had searched high & low for an antique dough bowl. Found some too small or too large or too expensive for my dining table. Then I went to Ballard - they never let me down. They not only had one bowl but several. The salesperson was nice enough to go through all of them until I found just the right one. Love it, love it, love it! I can leave it on my table & fill it with different things for the holidays or change of seasons.

WHOLESOME BEAUTYI have a passion for old wooden barns and unique things from the past. These dough bowls are perfect for a hint of times gone by ... placed in a home with warmth and European style. I ordered the large and it is beautiful. It sits on my long farmhouse table with a large driftwood hurricane type candle holder in center flanked by huge moss and stick decorative balls. Looks amazing with huge candle glowing as I type this review! I am tempted to order the extra large very soon !!!

Found European Dough BowlsAbsolutely LOVE these Dough Bowls. I was so pleased with the Medium size that I had to order the next 2 sizes! They are gorgeous! I also ordered one for our daughter as part of their "Wedding Gift" - It was the MOST GORGEOUS of all the one I have ordered. I will admit - it was a "little hard to let that one go!"... Endless possibilities!Bought the medium sized dough bowl and two large candles and glass cylinders. Filled the bottoms of the bowl and the cylinders with coffee beans. When the candles heat up a little, my breakfast room smells like freshly brewed coffee. Thinking about filling it with seed corn or acorns for Thanksgiving, glass ornaments for Christmas, Robin's eggs for Spring.... Maybe sand and shells in the Summer.......

Great addition to my dining room table!I love the European dough bowl! I have it filled with dried hydrangea, and have placed it as a centerpiece on my dining room table. I did have to add a small clear rubber foot to it to get it to sit upright.

Beautiful Beach House AccessoryOrdered the medium and it is huge. Glad I did not order the large.
The piece is lovely and pretty close in color to online picture.
Very old world or rustic, yet it will go perfectly on my Ananda serving table with more contemporary white couches.
Make note that the bottom is bowled not flat. While the piece sits nicely, it will rock slightly upon touch.
It is so different, worth the price and the delay in delivery.

GIGANTIC! (but gorgeous)Read the dimensions carefully!! I ordered a large, so I knew it was going to be big, but WOW it's really large!! Like I can fit my two boys (1 yr and 5 yr) inside of it kind of large. I was hoping to use it on my large dining (10 seater) table filled with fruit, etc. but it's now going to be used as a pretty toy storage bin. It's way too pretty to return and the price is spot on.

Cool decorI bought one in each size and they’re all so different! I originally got the extra large and it’s HUGE. We joked about our toddler using it as a boat. It’s somewhat plain and the wood is twisted, but it’s a neat piece. I then ordered the 2 smaller sizes. The medium is quite a bit darker but a nice shape. The large is by far my favorite. It is more visibly worn along the edges, has more detailed handles, and a couple of metal patches. It’s exactly what I hoped for. Overall, I enjoy each of them but you really don’t know what you’ll get!

Unique lookingThis worked well for my needs on a large buffet but would be nice if they could make the bottom more flat. I need to find something to shove under one side so it sits up straight, so once I find that, it will be good.

very attractive decorative wooden bowlI ordered a medium size bowl to sit on my 9 foot long island and hold fruit. It is 25" long, on the smaller side of the medium size range--I wish it had been closer to 3 feet. I understand that this is a hand made item and that sizes vary. I will probably use this bowl on my table instead, and considering trying the large size for the island.
My advice to purchaser to to order two bowls, and keep the one that it the best size for your space. The other one would certainly made a beautiful gift!

Batman Dough BowlI ordered a large and it is huge!!! About 41" long. I had been wanting an antique dough bowl for a very long time, but was reluctant to pull the trigger due to the expensive price. Was super excited to receive it once I finally bit the bullet and payed the $200.00. It arrived in a huge box and I felt not that well packed. Once I opened it I saw it had pointed horns on both ends of the bowl. Sort of strange looking! Thus the referral to Bat Man! It does not sit flat on my table either. Had to prop it up with a door stop hidden in the back of bowl. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed in this purchase. Ended up keeping it because of the hassle of shipping it back.

a little disappointedlooking at the photo when buying was a bit unreal. I didnt want to go with the largest so looking at sizes picked the next on e down. really disappointed, it is way small. next time I will use my tape measure to check sizes. it is adorable just small.

Very disappointedI've wanted to get one of these for quite some time and finally ordered the medium. Although the color is pretty, it is so much smaller than I hoped it to be. It measures just barely over 18 inches long. The specifications for a medium size bowl is 17.5"-21" long. In the picture, it is next to a ream of paper to see the size. It does not even look like the ones pictured. Instead of being rectangle shape, it is oval with handles. It also looks manufactured rather than hand carved and rustic. I really like Ballard Designs but this time I am very disappointed and sending it back.

SizingJust received my bowl today and it is going back. I ordered the medium and I know it says that it can be 19 to 34 inches long but was disappointed that mine was 19.5 inches. It also did not sit flat on countertop. I guess I should have ordered the large but didn't want one that big- I guess I need to find one in person.

Too BIG or too SMALL!I bought this bowl in a medium for a dining table and it was too small. I then ordered the the large one hoping it would fit. It was HUGE!! 43 inches by 15! Larger than advertised for the large one. They are really pretty but not what I thought when it came to size.

DissapointedI ordered the medium sized dough bowl to go on my dinning room table but I was quite disappointed in the quality of the product. First, the size of the bowl I received was probably the smallest from the size range available and it was also quite narrow. Second, the bowl was very uneven; I understand that each piece is different and I certainly didn't expect it to be perfect but the bowl I received did not allow me to fill it with anything, everything would tilt.

So Bummed!I'd wanted one of these bowls for so long, and I finally broke down after Christmas and ordered the large bowl (nice discount and free shipping). I couldn't believe the size of it! HUGE! It was definitely at the upper end of the dimensions. It was also "twisted." Think of wringing out a towel. Each end was tweaked in the opposite direction. I couldn't live with that part, so I decided I'd return it and exchange it for what I hoped would be a "large" medium. Nope. Smallest on the scale. It doesn't even look legit. I'm so bummed. What a waste of time, energy, money. And for the price, even on sale, I don't see the value.
