Ballard Designs has always had quality items (I have purchased a variety of decor) however I wasn't overly impressed with these for the price. It takes a lot of bulbs, even as an accent to cover the tree.

I bought these a few years ago but had a lot of collecting to do before I could finally decorate my blue and white tree. One broke as I was carefully taking it out of the tissue paper--my arthritic finger shattered it. The string hanger unknotted itself as I was putting another on the tree, and it fell to my hardwood floor and shattered. I ordered 4 sets so I'm already down to 10 ornaments. So be super careful when unwrapping, and check all the strings before you take them from the box. I'm also planning to make an extra large tree skirt to cushion any others that drop. These aren't my most expensive ornaments, but they are the most fragile.

They have a definite yellowish tinge to them like the lacquer was old/bad. I won’t use those on the tree I will decorate with blue and pure white ornaments. This turned an exciting purchase into a ho-hum one.

The other two are not handpainted and a different shade of blue (more like a deep aqua). One has a yellow stain on it. Don't have the time to send them back, so I'm keeping them, but I would not recommend buying them at any price.

The colors were also inconsistent across the set--one was bright white with navy paint, and the other two are a dirty cream color with a lighter blue. Waiting for an email back from customer service.

The painting was smudged and the quality was cheap...I expected them to be ceramic but they were more plastic-like. I'm glad I didn't pay full price, but even $21 for the 3 was too much. I would not recommend.
