Better than the pictures!
Beautiful chair. Lovely teak. Very sturdy and well built. Arrived really well-packed. Easy to assemble. Encourages me to choose more Ballard Design products.

Even more beautiful in person
The color and texture of the teak is absolutely beautiful and I love the detail, especially the back of this chair.

Almost
They were so close to hitting it out of the park with these chairs, but there are a couple issues that give me pause. First, the good:
1. Aesthetically, they're amazing. This is the best thing about these chairs. Very different and cool looking. They don't look like a typical teak chair. I LOVE the look.
2. They come with cushions. That's very convenient. Yes, the cushions could be way more comfortable, but most chairs at this price point don't have cushions. It's also good to know that nicer cushions are available when the complementary cushions wear out.
3. There is nothing complex about assembling these chairs.
4. The chairs look great! Oh, I said that already.
The not so good:
1. The comfort level is just ok. It's not the cushions (though that would make a difference), it's the depth. The chairs need to be 3-5 inches deeper. At first it feels like you're being pushed forward a little. Then, after you sit for awhile, you think, well, it's ok. Maybe, I should I keep them. They look so good. But you never think, these are really comfortable chairs. I did not expect a lounge chair feel. I knew it would be a straight back, but I grew up with wingback chairs, and they were much more comfortable than these chairs.
2. It's takes a while to assemble these chairs if you just use the wrench and screws that they came with. The first chair was easier. There was just one screw that was difficult to turn. I ended up stripping it, and because it's not in far enough, the cap won't stay on. For the 2nd chair, I got all the screws in the whole way, but some spots are just not flush. When I have the energy, I need to take it apart and try again. I'm sure assembly will be easier and less time consuming if you have at least 2 people and electric tools.
3. The caps (that cover the screws) come off easily, even when the screws are in far enough. It just doesn't look as finished without the caps. This is where you get into, hmmm, I just spent a whole lot of money for these chairs. Should this be happening?
4. As another reviewer mentioned, there is some mold. It was easy to wipe off. I don't think my chairs had nearly as much as hers did. Water dripped out when unwrapping the chair. It hasn't rained here recently, so there must have been some water where it was packed.
I asked 3 other people for their opinion about the chair. Everyone loved the look. 3 of us had questions about the comfort. 1 person expressed no reservations about the comfort. No one thought that it was flat out uncomfortable.
I am keeping the Ceylon wingback chairs because of the aesthetics and because the comfort is acceptable. I also purchased the Ceylon lounge chairs. They don't compare aesthetically to the wingback. I am returning the lounge chairs. The depth is also an issue, and I need some chairs that you just want to sit in all day.
Ballard, please just make these chairs at least 3 inches deeper. No other teak furniture will compare if you do that.

Ceylon teak wingback chair
The quality of this chair is nice. The wood is beautiful. The only two issues are 1) the color of the cushions is slightly yellow 2) the chair is very upright. Comfortable for sitting, but not so much for lounging.

Having to put these together was a lot of work and requires two people but I love them!

Looks great but not that comfortable
The chair is well built and lovely on my patio. The cushions are stiff (not comfy) and do not drain as well as my other cushions from another manufacturer. I also found the seating to be very shallow. If you are a tall person, then you will find the chair quite upright. This is not deep seating!

Moldy Wood
Bought a full set of the Clayton Teak Outdoor furniture. It looks great however I would stay far away from these products. The quality is bottom tier. Within two weeks of assembly and getting set up outside the wood started to mold. Much better spending your money elsewhere. Per customer service mold is not covered under warranty. Would except more from Ballard.
