Please note: Any items that are monogrammed, customized, Customer's Own Material (COM), or made-to-order cannot be modified, cancelled, returned or exchanged unless damaged or defective. Defective items will be exchanged unless no longer available, in which case a Merchandise Certificate will be issued. Once a returned item is received in our warehouse, the return or exchange will be processed immediately. For credit card orders, you can expect to see your refund credit within 72 hours. For check and money orders, you can expect to receive your refund check within 7-10 business days.

Orders equal to and under $200 will be charged 15% of the total order value.

We offer Two Business Day or Next Business Day Expedited Shipping on many items. Expedited orders received by 4 pm ET Monday–Friday are shipped the same day.

Expedited order cut-offs may vary during weeks surrounding a federally recognized holiday.

What To Expect For Truck Deliveries

  1. After your items have shipped, you will be contacted by our delivery partner to schedule a day and 4 hour window for your delivery.
  2. When scheduling, share any restrictions or special circumstances that could impact your delivery including, but is not limited to:
    • Narrow roads
    • Restricted delivery times
    • Gated entrances
    • Proof of insurance requirements
    • Multiple flights of stairs
    • Service elevator restrictions
  3. Ensure that all items will fit through access points such as doorways, stairways, hallways, elevators, and around corners into the desired location.
  4. On the day of delivery, our delivery partner will call you approximately 30 minutes prior to arriving at your home.
  5. Please prepare for your delivery by ensuring clear pathways and removing any fragile items that could be damaged during the delivery. Our delivery provider is unable to move any existing furniture.
  6. Our delivery experience is contactless and your signature is not required. If you observe an imperfection, notify the delivery team and either refuse the item or contact us at 888-263-9850 for a resolution.

The color was perfect! I was impressed with how it was packed and shipped. Also, I was happy with the easy assembly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful piece of furniture The finish is just as pictured. It is a heavy, solid, well constructed desk and hutch. Good attention to detail; the drawers are even lined with marbled paper. It fits beautifully into my decor. I find that the interior measurements of the hutch and lower cabinets are slightly smaller than what was written in the product description. My printer does not fit in the lower cabinet as I thought it would. There were also several delays before it was shipped and took several months to arrive. Ballard kept me informed about all of that. I'd say it was worth the wait.

The distressed blue grey color is exactly like the sample that I received. The piece is well made and very substantial. The hardware is attractive and the desk mechanisms allow the drop front to move smoothly and safely up and down. I watched the men unpack each section, and it was very well protected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a beautiful piece of furniture. I had to wait almost 12 weeks for this item to be delivered, but it was well worth the wait. It is a beautiful crafted piece of furniture. My only 'complaint' was I paid for in-home delivery because of the size of the secretary/desk however, when it was delivered, they unpacked and delivered 3 huge pieces into my home but would not set up the desk with the hutch. Becuase of the size and weight of each piece, I had to find someone to help me put the pieces together which took another 2 days. Once the pieces were assembled and was thrilled with my purchase!

But the reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the color of the piece is not what matched the picture online. The "off white" is more of a TRUE white. They have (since my order) added a "cream" in addition to "off white." My piece has both a gray distressing as well as some brown, which is interesting.

The overall quality is great, the finish is okay, I prefer more of a subtle sheen so I applied a soft wax and finished it off with steel wool. It looks wonderful. The storage in the desk is plentiful but I am disappointed with the hutch. I had planned to use it for my cookbooks since it is in my kitchen but the depth only allows for small books so I had to make another plan. All in all, I am very pleased with the piece.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Three Star Quality It was a long covid wait to receive this piece. That’s not the reason for the 3 stars. The hutch part was damaged and the replacement won’t arrive for 7 months. That’s not the 3 stars either. What is 3 stars is the lack of quality in the piece. Everything from the fold-down leaf only having a removable key as the knob and to the interior joinery looking slightly off. I plan to add some lighting to the replacement hutch since it’s so dark. I doubt I’d choose this secretary again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure if I would order again I ordered this in the walnut stain and was a little disappointed with the color. It seemed cheap and fake. It didn’t really look or feel like real wood. The style and design is beautiful though. I was also a little disappointed with the function. The bookcase hutch simply isn’t deep enough to hold most books, making it more decorative than functional. Also a concern are the hinges located on the inside of the secretary hutch. They are very large and unsightly. Zoom in on the website pictures and you can see them. They are black and chrome and in no way match the rest of the antique hardware on this furniture.
