Does the trickWe bought a 104 year old home. Quite lovely, though, as very common for an older home, it has no closets. This armoire compliments the house and gives us a place to hang a hat. Very nice.

Beautiful, stately pieceThis armoire was delivered two months ahead of the estimate, which was a nice surprise. I would not have minded waiting for it, however, as it is exactly as described. It has the look and feel of a high quality piece of furniture, which, for the price, is what I expected. I ordered the cream/grey finish. The shelving provides ample storage for bathroom and bed linens. I don't have a full-length mirror in my dressing area, and these mirrored doors do the trick quite nicely.

Beautiful Armoire but A WARNINGThis armoire is gorgeous. BUT BE WARNED: the legs don't have plastic feet to protect the floor. I didn't notice this because the armoire was delivered in-home and the legs were mounted by the delivery guys. After they left, I noticed that the armoire was not flush with the wall I and decided to push it a few inches. This created deep scratches in my new hardwood floor. How can a heavy piece of furniture like this be delivered without plastic feet? I'm very disappointed, but I'm giving the armoire 5 stars anyway because it is beautiful.

Beautiful piece of furniture!I ordered this armoire in August in distressed black and it was well worth the wait! I needed an extra closet to hang jackets and coats. I am able to hang my jackets but not my coats because the non-adjustable shelf is in the middle of the cabinet. However, I put one of the adjustable shelves on the bottom and now I have storage for blankets and things that I needed storage for anyway. Overall, great piece and I have gotten so many compliments on it. I put it in my front entrance. I ordered the armoire with the mirrored front so it looks great when you walk into the house. The men who delivered the piece where excellent and attached the legs for me without me asking. Love it!!

What a great piece!Love this armoire! The mirrored doors keeps the piece from being too overwhelming, because it is large. Looks great in the room. Only downside: The door opens with a key. My 3 year old has already walked away with it once.

The Louis XVI armoire is just as pictured and is perfect in my home.The entire Casa Florentina line appeals to me and I think the color choices while difficult to envision offer nice choices. The armoire is made very well and is very useful as a linen closet. My only complaint would be that I ordered in June and it was delivered in Nov but was worth the wait.

Beautiful, functional armoireI love my Casa Florentina armoire. I have been looking for years for a high quality armoire to fill a specific space in my bedroom and one with a European look. After discovering the Casa Florentina in a Ballard's catalog, I went into a local Ballard's to order a mirrored one in limed white. However, there was one with mirrors on the floor in antique walnut at a greatly reduced price. The only thing wrong with it was a small nick in the wood toward the bottom of the front. The wood color almost exactly matched my bedroom furniture. I bought it on the spot. A dab of colored pencil filled in the nick and it looks perfect. I would have paid full price for this, but it was so nice to find it at a such a great price. Love it!! Delivery and "white glove" setup was extra but well worth it.

Beautiful and functionalI ordered the distressed black with the mirrored doors. The finish is beautiful and looks like the advertisement. The mirrors are good quality without any warp spots. My only complaint is that the custom name tag was supposed be a brass plate on the back of the piece. Instead the brass plate is on top of a tacky paper card advertising the manufacturer and at the top inside of the front door.

Very nice armoireI have only had it about a month but so far so good. I purchased the grey with mirrored doors. Very glad I went with the mirrors otherwise I think it would be too heavy looking for my space. The grey is as pictured on website but the inside is not white as stated it would be. I like it better all grey anyway. There are several options for adjusting the height of the multiple shelves and a hanging rod is included. Great size - not too big, not to small. Nice detail in the woodwork to make it a little more interesting looking. The distressing on the grey is not super noticeable (the distressing is brown). Doors are easy to open, close and lock. Very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this piece because I have limited closet space. It is not only beautiful to look at and very well made but truly is a closet.Well made, lovely finish and the hanging rod is very sturdy for hanging lots of clothes still leaving ample storage on the shelves. I was surprised to see that the maker notched the shelves and added a cord opening in the back so it could also be used to house a large television, DVD player etc if my storage needs change. I can't say enough about the quality and workmanship and the versatility of uses. Have already had compliments on it from everyone who has walked into the room and seen it!!!

Elegant and romanticI live in a small apartment of 525 square feet, so all of my furniture needs to serve multiple purposes. I used the Sonoma Bookcase as a combination bookshelf and entertainment center (by moving the shelves up and putting my 42” television on it.) It worked great!
Then I decided that I needed more storage and a place to put my mail when coming home. When I saw this armoire, I fell in love with its classic lines and prayed my television would fit in it in order to free up the Sonoma Bookcase. I needed an entertainment center that didn’t appear bulky in my tiny space, so with its mirrored panels on front, it was perfect. The mirrors bounce much-needed light and keep the armoire from visually competing with the bookshelf, which is now used exclusively for books. Plus, since the shelves are adjustable, in any future homes I can continue using it as an entertainment center, or I can use the included hanging rack and use it as a wardrobe. And I appreciate the security of being able to lock the television up when I go out. The only surfaces that seem to be veneers are the backside and the back of the panels. Pretty sturdy.
It doesn’t look like it would be able to hold a 42″ flatscreen, but it sure can! A 42” television fits perfectly on both the Louis XVI Armoire and the Sonoma Bookcase. And I have my surround sound speakers hidden on the black Ethan tray table and on the window sill so that the sound can get to the sofa, even when the doors are opened.

My new armoire is quite beautiful.The finish is very close to what was represented on the website. The delivery was well-done. However, I thought that assembly of the 4 legs was included. It was not. I have no way of attaching the legs. The armoire is too heavy for me to lift. Now, the armoire is tilted and the doors slam (strongly) due to the tilt when closing. It's a miracle that the mirrors haven't broken. It will have to stay tilted until I can find help. It will be difficult for me to order from Ballard's again due to the fact that I am a single woman and I don't lift heavy furniture. And--IT IS VERY HEAVY.
However, the furniture is lovely and I hope I can use it soon.

9 years on, still a focal pointWe have had the Louis mirrored armoire in a distressed white finish for nine years plus, and it has recently survived a local move. We are still happy with it.
We bought it originally to hold our stereo and CDs, along with off-season linens, but needed it for a dark corner of our living room. We had a (very old) decorating book which showed a lovely armoire with mirrored doors, and so began quite a search for something which would be similar. This was my first purchase from Ballard, or from anywhere via catalog for such an expensive piece. It's been a happy experience.
I will say that although charming and elegant, it is very definitely made of veneers, and that the sturdy nature only applies if the legs are level. When we were moving to wood floors I had only a single front leg on felt, and the door was cocked enough not to open. Once the second leg had felt, all was back to normal. This is quite a light-weight piece, just be prepared for that.

All that said, I would buy it again, and am still happy that it graces our (new) living room.

Well designed, lovely armoire, BUT...The Armoire is very pretty. Unfortunately, it has a smell that is so offensive that I do not know what to do with the Armoire. I bought it to put in the master bedroom. I had it moved out of our bedroom for a week hoping that if it aired out the smell which I thought was a paint smell initially, would go away. We put it back in our bedroom and the off-gassing left me with a headaches in the morning. I'm very disappointed.

Its okWe ordered armoire with much anticipation. Took about five months for delivery and we are a bit disappointed. The delivery was flawed - no need for details but didn't help our sense of this piece. The detailing on it is as shown but it is almost ticky tacky with trim pieces kind of attached to it more than an integral part of the armoire. Hard to describe but for example the hinges don't seem heavy duty but they have to carry mirrored doors.

Very Disappointing Cheap ProductI was so excited for this piece to arrive and so disappointed when it did --- four months later. The piece was made of cheap wood with trim simply glued onto it. The glue all over the piece in many places. It does not seem to come off. I was afraid to try too hard since the staining was streaked, blotchy, and in some places non-existent. This is not a shabby chic piece -- I know what antiqued pieces look like, I paint them myself. I ordered mahogany and two of the feet - were not even properly stained, looking almost cream color. The pictures attached show how poorly finished this piece is ... pay particular attention to the unstained foot, with glue pooled on the piece above it. Please note all of the light spots are not the sun, the shades were closed ... they are areas of streaked stain or NO stain. Other pics show the glue ... lots of glue. If I could return it for a refund, I would. Sadly when you order this piece they consider it custom, so no returns. I highly recommend against purchasing this piece.

Don't Waste Your MoneyAlmost 7 feet tall, Armoire offers the storage of an additional closet. Tempered mirrored doors conceal three adjustable shelves and floating back panels, so you can also use it as a media center. My armoire did not have the custom finish in layers, distressing was poor workmanship. The locking door is hard to close.
