Please note: Any items that are monogrammed, customized, Customer's Own Material (COM), or made-to-order cannot be returned or exchanged unless damaged or defective. Defective items will be exchanged unless no longer available, in which case a Merchandise Certificate will be issued. Once a returned item is received in our warehouse, the return or exchange will be processed immediately. For credit card orders, you can expect to see your refund credit within 72 hours. For check and money orders, you can expect to receive your refund check within 7-10 business days.

Standard Delivery
Orders are shipped by standard ground and usually arrive within 3-7 business days. Items ordered at the same time may not be delivered together.

Threshold Delivery
Threshold Deliveries are made by standard truck, unloaded by the driver and placed inside the first-floor doorway, garage or covered area of your choice.

In-Home Delivery
In-Home Deliveries are made by standard truck, placed inside your home wherever you like, inspected, and the packaging removed. Please allow an additional 2-3 weeks from Ship Date for your order to arrive. An agent will call to schedule your delivery. (Not available in all states.)

O/S (Oversized) Delivery
Items that are heavy or bulky are subject to an Oversized Delivery surcharge. This charge is listed after the item price.

Express Delivery
Express orders received by 3 p.m. EST are shipped the same day.
For items under 15 lb., the following Express Delivery rates apply:

  • Two day service, add $9.95
  • Next day service, add $19.95
  • Alaska, Puerto Rico, USVI & Hawaii, add $9.95 (Express Delivery required)

Swatch Shipping
Ballard Designs offers up to 10 free swatches for all of our fabrics for a small fee of $5.95 for shipping and processing. It will take 3-7 business days for your swatches to arrive. The swatches are approximately a 3" X 3" square.

Baluster Umbrella Stand 4.2 5 114 114
Great table but could be better The table arrives in 2 pieces: the baluster base and the circular top, that locks on with a short twist. Issues: 1. the instructions say to fill base with sand. Well, I always substitute water instead of sand as sand makes it extremely heavy and difficult to move or relocate. Water can be drained out and then it is easier to move, however water is not good for cold winter months as it freezes, should it be left out all winter. The base leaks, so water doesn't work, and I'm not messing with sand. 2. there is no bottom to the umbrella pole hole so there are issues with that. 3. the top came defective. The replacement top was extremely difficult to attach - took a lot of effort and strength. Was about to return the entire thing. However, I rigged a metal bottom to the pole hole and the table is fine now. I like it a lot on the black rug on my deck. Ballard's customer support was great in responding to the problems: sent replacement top but also willing to accept it as a return or to replace it. This is a substantial table --bigger than I thought but ideal between two normal height chairs - not chaises or deep seating furniture. Take note of height before ordering. July 10, 2011
The best umbrella stand on the market! I searched and searched for an umbrella stand to support our wind-resistant 11' umbrella as we live on a very windy lake and have lost 6 umbrella's in the last 5 years to the wind. It is perfect and holds the umbrella's perfectly. Regarding the sand fill, just remember to use play sand and not paving sand and it is simple and easy to fill without spillage. I am sure this will be one of the best and most efficient umbrella stands on the market and believe me, I have done some serious research. Congratulations, Ballard for such a fine product! Love the way it looks & functions! I bought this for the upper deck on my house - on a windy day, the 7' umbrella always toppled, even in a 70 lb. iron stand. This was a little tricky for two people to set up - as others have commented, it's not easy to get sand into the base without spilling it down the center column that holds the umbrella. It took four hands, and lots of patience. I never considered using water, because 1) I wanted as much weight as possible, 2) This is left out year-round in a St. Louis winter and 3) So many people said water leaks out of the bottom. We set a cork disc under it (the kind you put beneath a house plant to protect floors) otherwise the metal umbrella base sits right on the deck. Since our deck is a light-colored manmade material, it would scratch. The table fastened very tightly - no issues there. The umbrella, however, wobbles because the column is much wider than the pole itself. I'll find some solution - I imagine just stuffing the space with an old towel would work. So far, I love it. It's a little bit tall for the Adirondack chairs (also from Ballard), but still functional. And I bought it primarily as an umbrella stand, not a table. Ballard customer service was terrific when I lost a small part - Fed Ex'd a couple of days later, no charge. May 6, 2012
I like it, but... I bought this umbrella stand for a few reasons, the most prominent of them was to have an umbrella stand that would withstand the wind we get here in FL, so my umbrella would stop falling over all the time in rain storms. I have to say I am impressed that it is very sturdy and I have not yet had to run out into the rain and pick up my umbrella. I purchased this product in the darker color, as it matched my other outdoor furniture pieces better. The problem I have is that we haven't had this stand outside for 2 months yet, and the "paint" has already chipped off at the base where the umbrella and stand meet. I purchased the Ballards umbrella as well to go into this stand, so it should work well together, but the umbrella has a bump on it right where the stand ends, and when it moves in the stand, it rubs off the finish. So I am not happy about that, as it doesn't look new anymore, in fact, it's looking a little tattered. I am not going to return the item, but I wish it withstood the elements a little better.
