Too messy
I liked the look of this rug and thought the price was great, but in reality quite a few of the strands are actually broken. It doesn't have the smooth look like the one in the catalog. In fact, when my kids sit or lie down on it to play a board game, they have little bits of grass all over them. If a throw pillow from the couch falls on the floor, it collects grass. I doubt that this rug can hold up to the wear and tear of an average family. I'm sure I'll be replacing it within a year or two which was not my original intent. I am disappointed with this purchase.

Very poor quality
This rug has loose fibers and lots of knots on the front of the weave... it is probably the worst quality seagrass rug I've ever seen, which explains why the price is the lowest I found. It was meant for a spare room that is used as a closet, so I won't bother returning it, but if it were meant for my living area, it would be going right back.

Nice rugs. So far so good in kitchen.
We bought two to use over shellacked hardwood floors in our kitchen to prevent minor drips and splashes from getting into the finish. They work well for that, and spills clean up fairly easily. We have not yet tried to do any major cleaning, just vacuuming and damp wiping. The edges absorb more than the seagrass main area and have started to look a little grungy in places, so we will have to try a more thorough cleaning soon. They don't seem to mind getting wet, but will not keep wet spills from the floor, so they must be taken out to dry when they happen.

Product is as pictured
Rug was delivered promptly. A return special plastic cover was included if I had wished to return it. Ballard was very prompt with all emails regarding delivery, etc. I had really hesitated to order such item online, but am glad that I did now. I do wish that the catalog ad had mentioned that the texture of the seagrass was not very soft. I guess I should have known but would have liked that included in catalog.

Durable, classic rug
After reading a lot of reviews and researching seagrass online, we purchased the khaki color to go in our dining room. With a toddler and a dog, we needed something durable and easy to clean, yet attractive enough to pair with our upholstered linen chairs. This rug has been great so far! Cleans up quickly, the green tea scent dissipated within 2 weeks, and the color was exactly as described (not too golden). I just wish it was offered in a 7x9!

Beautiful texture, adds warmth to any space.
I bought 3 of these rugs, a 6x9 to go under our bkfast nook table and 2 x 3x5's for our master bath in front of two vanities. It's not the coziest feel for bare feet but I was so in love with the texture I didn't want to send the small ones back. They'll be great in the summer/fall. I may switch them out in the winter as our ceramic is cold. The bkfast nook 6x9 is a great size (a 5x8 just wouldn't do) and looks great on the slate floor. Again it's a warm texture that add greatly to the room. Price was right!!

Exactly what I was looking for!
My grandparents left it up to me to pick a new carpet for one of our beach cabins. In my search I was looking for something that was durable, easy to clean and looked high-quality and attractive. Well I found it with this seagrass rug with the khaki trim! It has gotten many compliments and has withstood lots of sandy feet. The seagrass did smell a little funny for awhile but it did not last. Thanks Ballard's for a great product!

Fair
I got this rug home and it is VERY GREEN! It is not a light green, but fairly dark and looks dirty as described in earlier posts. I am not happy with the color, otherwise, seems nice.

This rug has added an updated look.
I looked all over for a 6'x9' size that I needed and your product is perfect! The light binding won't fade in my bay window direct sun--the backing is substantial and non skid. I am very pleased with the quality and don't miss the oriental rug I replaced one bit.

Great rug at a great price!
This rug is neutral enough to use anywhere, but the colored border gives it definition. I put this in my entryway and it has worked beautifully. It's durable yet attractive. It's low profile makes it easy to open the door and the latex backing holds it into place. I have not needed a rug pad. Great buy!

Great look/quality/value
We were torn between this and the bound sisal. After trying both, we decided on the Sea Grass and are very satisfied. The texture looks great against our hand-scraped hardwoods and the fiber is a good contrast to our leather. We are pleased.

Nice quality, great price
This is a great price for a nice quality sea grass rug. It takes a little time for the bends from being rolled to flatten out and it does start out a little green but those are traits that get fixed over time. I recommend this product!

This product was disappointing
The color did not accurately reflect what was in the catalog and appeared somewhat dirty. Also, there are places where it is not woven tightly.

Wonderful!
I really like this rug. We have three kids and two dogs and it looks great all the time!! My only criticism, a small one, is that it is not too comfortable to sit on. So happy I bought this, it brightens our living room and I think we will have it for a long, long time!

was a little disappointed when I first saw the carpet. I thought it would have been more on the beige side.
Now that I have had the carpet for a little while, I have noticed it is becoming lighter in color. This is my first seagrass carpet so I was not familiar with this product. Overall I like the appearance and would purchase another in the future.

Color is misrepresented
I love the overall LOOK of this rug, and price was definitely right...but the color is much different in person, much much darker than the photos. It would help if there were more photos, which perhaps showed the variations on color.

Beautiful and casual
This rug is beautiful. Casual without feeling sloppy. Loved how it smelled like green tea for the first several days. My only complaint would be that it is taking a while for the "roll bumps" from shipping to "iron out"

Great natural Seagrass area rugs!
The Seagrass area rugs look great and have worn well. When the initially arrived, the shape was a bit distorted due to shipping. After a couple of weeks, they regained the appropriate shape.

This rug looks nice in my dining room but does "shed" a little more than I thought it would.
Overall I am happy with it and have had it for about 6 months.

Seagrass Rug
I absolutely LOVE the seagrass rug. I had recently purchased the sisal rug, but did not like the inconsistent weave. It is under my kitchen table and it hides little crumbs, etc. It seems I don't have to vacuum as much as I used to! Other similar rugs were $200 and up.

sturdy, minimal upkeep
I love this rug. We use in high traffic area and it hides the dirt and sand and does not require constant vacuuming.

Good product for a good price
This review is based on a few weeks of use. The rug lays flat after just a couple of days, has withstood a coffee grounds spill already (I just use the vacuum cleaner and a damp rag) with no stain. The rug does smell somewhat funny but I understand that goes away. Stays put on a hardwood floor without a rug pad. A good price on a good product. So far so good.

Piping is hard to stay clean
The rug itself is a nice quality and the look I am going for. However, the black band of fabric around the rug is extremely hard to keep clean. It seems to attract any tiny bit of dust and lent and ends up looking a little dingy. I sadly wish I had ordered another color. The black is not a practical color choice for this rug.

the best rug
I love these rugs. I have gotten them from Ballard for many years. They hide dirt very well, are sturdy, the edging is nicely made, including the mitered corners. They do a great job at protecting my floors. They never end up smelling like wool or cotton rugs can do. A really good rug at a really good price.

This product falls short.
The rug still has not lost its "curled ends, even after putting heavy books on the ends. It also sheds a lot and it is difficult to vacuum the cotton binding as the grass particles seem to stick to the cotton. I wish I had known as I would have chosen the more finely woven grass rug.
I wish I could return it!

I love this rug!
This is probably the 3rd rug like this that I have owned.
Ballard is the only place that offers 6x9 and has always
shipped a quality product in a swift time frame.
This last rug did have a few less than perfect spots
but it adds character.
Love it anyway.

Love this rug!
We purchased the seagrass rug a few months ago...and we love it! Its understated beauty has tied our room together. And better yet...This rug is durable enough to stand up to our Golden Retriever...and our grand-dogs.
I would highly recommend it.
