Standard Return Policy
If you're not happy, we're not happy. That's where our "Love It or Send It Back" policy comes in. If you're dissatisfied with your Ballard purchase for any reason, you can return it within 90 days of the ship date for an exchange or full refund* (excluding Shipping & Processing fees).
"Best of Ballard" Items
You are invited to try items within our "Best of Ballard" collection risk-free for 30 days. If you're not satisfied, we will refund the purchase price AND shipping costs. "Bring Home Ballard" items are exempt from additional discounts and free shipping offers.
Slipcovered or Upholstered Furniture
If you don't absolutely love your new slipcovered seating or upholstered seating for any reason, return it within 10 days of delivery absolutely free – we'll even pay the return shipping. It's that simple. We guarantee it. Now doesn't that make you happy?
Please carefully inspect your order upon delivery. If you receive damaged or defective merchandise, you may contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-536-7551 and a representative will be glad to arrange a return or exchange for you.
Customized or Special Order Items
Please note: Any items that are monogrammed, customized, Customer's Own Material (COM), or made-to-order cannot be returned or exchanged unless damaged or defective. Defective items will be exchanged unless no longer available, in which case a Merchandise Certificate will be issued.Once a returned item is received in our warehouse, the return or exchange will be processed immediately. For credit card orders, you can expect to see your refund credit within 72 hours. For check and money orders, you can expect to receive your refund check within 7-10 business days.
How do I return a Special Shipment?
Currently, return labels are not sent for items that ship directly from the manufacturer or for items that weigh greater than 50 lbs. However, we often are able to provide you with return shipping labels for these products. Please call or email us the items you are wanting to return to see if a return label is available.
If your order was delivered via Through-the-Door or In-Home service, please call or email us to schedule a return pick-up. We will coordinate the pick-up of any large Through-the-Door or In-Home item for return.
Can I return my custom item?
All custom products are non returnable should you have any further questions please contact us.
Once I return an item, how long will it take to receive a refund?
We want you to be happy. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with your purchase, return it within 90 days for an exchange, credit, or refund (excluding Shipping Processing fees). All products are guaranteed from defects for a full year.
Once an item is received in our warehouse, a refund or exchange is processed immediately. For credit card orders, you can expect to see your credit within 72 hours. For check and money orders, you can expect to receive your refund check within 7-10 business days.

Based on the dimensions and weights of the products in your order, the front of your packaging slip may contain a UPS or Return Service (RS) label. If you have received this label, your order qualifies for our Easy Returns service (Option 1). If your package does not contain a UPS/RS label, please follow Option 2.
OPTION I: Easy Returns: Shipping via UPS/RS Label
Please Note: Not all orders will receive the Easy Returns label. If you did not receive an Easy Returns label, email Customer Service along with your order # to obtain specific return instructions for your item.
This option allows you to use the pre-paid UPS label for just $8.95. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please follow these easy steps:
Complete sections one, two, and three of the pack slip and include it with the item(you are sending back).Affix the UPS/RS return shipping label I (at right) over the original shipping label on your package and reseal it for shipment. If your original package is unusable, please use similar packaging with sufficient packaging protection. NOTE: Sorry, this service is not available for return shipments from Alaska or Hawaii.Drop off the package at any UPS delivery or pickup address, such as The UPS Store, Mailboxes Etc., Pak Mail, Staples, Office Depot, Packaging Stores, Postal Annex or Postnet, Parcel Plus, etc. For UPS drop-off locations or authorized shipping outlets, please call 1-800-PICK-UPS or visit http://www.ups.com/ Please specify one of the following:
Guaranteed Delivery (1-4 Business Days)Full Visibility of Package (Tracking Visibility)*
* Retain the UPS/RS tracking number for your records.
A charge of $8.95 will be deducted from your total. Sorry, the prepaid return label is not valid outside the 48 contiguous United States.Important Note For Rug Returns: We can only accept rug returns if returned in an undamaged original shipping bag. If the original bag is unusable, email us and we'll be happy to send a return shipping bag for your use.
OPTION II: Shipping via Carrier of your Choice
This option allows you to use the carrier of your choice to return an item weighing less than 50 lbs. to Ballard Designs (for items greater than 50 lbs, please view Special Shipment instructions. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please follow these easy steps:
Complete sections one, two, and three of the pack slip and include it with the item(s) you are sending back.
Apply the pre-addressed return label II (at right) on the front of the Ballard Designs packing slip.
Apply the carrier's shipping label onto your package. If your original package is unusable, please use similar packaging with sufficient packaging protection.Pay the carrier's shipping charge for return shipping.
