Rated 1 out of 5 by TXLady Very disappointed...
I bought this rug for our living room, hoping that an "indoor/outdoor" rug would hold up better to normal wear and tear of a family living area. I had previously had an expensive wool rug, but it stained easily and was very costly to have cleaned, so this option seemed ideal. It was lovely when it first arrived, but literally days after putting it down, I began to see large wads of the fibers piling up on areas where we walked. I thought that maybe it had to have an initial "shed" and that it would get better over time, but it has only continued to get worse. I love Ballard, but the quality of this rug is far worse than even some I have had from discount/big box stores. This purchase definitely left me a little bitter and upset that Ballard would sell this item as an durable enough to hold up outdoors, when it can't even withstand light foot traffic for more than a few day. If the shipping for such an over-sized item wasn't a nightmare, and I thought that they would except it as a return after the first month, I would have sent it back in a heartbeat. Do not purchase this rug!

Used the small version of this rug in a guest bathroom. Looks and feels great. Ordered it in "chocolate" and it's really more of a golden brown than deep chocolate brown
Think it will wear well!!

Simply Gorgeous Carpet. Such a unique design. I purchased one for my foyer and a runner to match which goes to the back of my house and they look beautiful. I bought the spa color which also matches a lot of ballards fabrics that I had different pieces of furniture made. No need for a mat underneath this carpet. It is thick enough and it does not slide on my hardwood floor. A really, really wonderful find.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Teener snags readily and shows unbelievable wear after 1 week.
This rug is pretty, but it snags and has shown terrible wear after 1 week. It was under my coffee table and is all fuzzy where our feet would go. Shoes are not allowed in my living room; this rug should not be showing this kind of wear after this amount of time. I will be returning it.

I have the rug on my screened-in porch. OK, it's just a door mat, but it's interesting and fun to look at. I like my function to have beautiful form.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LadyBeth Beautifully made rugs.
I bought three of these rugs and was very happy with them when they arrived. I am using them in a large open area in my house which serves as a living room, family room and dining room. They are made very well, look beautiful on my hardwood floors and should hold up for years with my little dog and frequent visits from my 10 grandchildren.

This rug has great style, so much so that I purchased it twice to be used in different areas of my home. Well done, Ballards!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Catmomtoo Pretty rug...for the first few days
I was so excited to receive this rug as the design went perfectly with our Parisian-themed kitchen nook. However, after only a week or so, it started to show wear. As others have noted, the loops began to pull up and the fibers on the "words" part of it began pulling up and made the whole rug look furry (and not in a cute kitten sort of way)! Now, after only a couple of months, I am tired of getting on my hands and knees to trim it with a pair of scissors (which doesn't really help) and we are already looking to replace it as it looks very worn. We have only had it in a protected indoor space, can't imagine it outdoors.

by LindaCM This rug looks great but is poor quality
I purchased this rug for my kitchen. I ordered it in black and the writing on the rug looks faded (almost gray) if the pile is not going a certain way. Also, I should have known there would be an issue when the instructions tell you not to vacuum with roller brushes on (which I have never done). The rug pills and has snags and looks several years old instead of several months. It is of poor quality and I can't imagine how it would ever hold up as an outdoor rug when it can't even do the job in my kitchen. Very disappointed!!!

I purchased this rug for my mudroom. It's perfect and really makes a statement when someone walks in the door.
Very durable and a fun piece!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mislead Pretty, but NOT durable...at all.
I specifically ordered this rug because it was "durable enough for outdoor living." I ordered 2 runners and a 3X5 rug for my kitchen. The runners are placed in our mudroom and in front of a slider to our deck and the 3X5 in front of our stove. The rugs are lovely, however, within a day they started to pull! You cannot even vacuum them without using the fabric attachment. It is incredibly misleading that it's labeled for indoor outdoor use because it's absolutely NOT! As a matter of fact, you could never place a kitchen table w/chairs over these rugs because sliding the chair would completely destroy them. Definitely NOT worth the money for a high traffic area. Very disappointed in the quality.

I love the new rug. The background color is a beige and brown combination, which I am fine with. This is good to know if people think they are getting a rug with an off white or beige background. I was picturing a crewel style weave to the rug, but it is clearly more of a loop berber style. I have seen this rug only in one other magazine for a higher cost, so I am very happy that I got mine from Ballard Designs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AMluvsAV Great rug, great value!
I LOVE this rug. I have only had it down for a couple weeks and the edges are flat and the chemically "new rug" smell (which has been true for almost any rug I've ever purchased, not unique to this one) is gone. The rug is basic and neutral enough to not compete with the stylized chairs in the room, yet it's still a very interesting piece. It was very hard to find a rug in such a large size (9x12) that wasn't too plain. It feels soft underfoot and I never would have guessed that it is an indoor/outdoor rug, but I love that it will clean up easily since it's home will double as a playroom one day. I own the light brown color and I agree that the background is a mix of oatmeal and light beige colors but I think this adds depth and keeps the print from standing out so much that it distracts you from the rest of the decor. I just can't say enough about this rug - I looked for a long time online and nothing came close in terms of style and value. Thank you Ballard Designs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Reourada Great rug!
I ordered this for my foyer and it looks great. Very neutral, but because it is indoor/outdoor it cleans up very nicely. I was afraid that because it was indoor/outdoor it would be scratchy to my feet, but it is very soft. Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Cinderella Not exactly what I thought it would be.
The background is nothing like the one shown online or in the catalog. It's pretty dark, almost greenish. I like the rug but would have prefered a lighter background. Also it says not to use the beater bar of the vacuum cleaner on it. I thought it would be more sturdy than that. I have it under a glass top coffee table and it looks nice, just not WOW , which I was going for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by NotMyRug Doesn't look like its photo.
I want to love this rug, but I can't because its photo doesn't depict the actual blotchy brown and cream backgroundl. It looks beautiful in the picture, but unfortunately the mixy colored background is very unattractive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Homeinprogress Exactly what i was looking for
I bought this rug to use in a study. After reading ALL the mixed reviews on the rug, I was worried it would not work. The rug works beautifullly in the room. I ordered the 8.6 x. 11.9". The quality of the rug is perfect for the use of the room, it's softer than it looks. I am waiting for the rug pad, but im not sure i need it now. I ordered the spa color, which really is what it sounds like-- somewhere between blue and green. Definitely a softer look than pictured on the website. It has a whimsical feel, and its a great start to updating my study. One side of the rug rolled up, but only for a few days. After less than a week, it lays flat. Delivery was expected in April, but I received it in less than a week. This is my first purchase from Ballard, but I am impressed so far.

Definetely a conversation piece. On a 'minus' side can be a bit slippery when walking on in shoes or slippers. Also, it takes a really long time - unusually long - for the 'new product' odor to go away. Will give it an additional week - if it still smells that bad, will have to talk to Customer Service.

I love the two rugs we purchased. The description is in error, small point. The poem is about an Ant an a Grasshopper, not a Cricket. Writers should research details because it does allow the owner to attach a story to the item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NoelNoel Warm and fun
This rug is well made and adds a lot of charm to a room. The background turned out to be darker than it looks in the photos, but fortunately it still works where I have it. While I would prefer a slightly lighter background, I am glad I bought it. It's definitely warm and fun.

The design of this rug is lovely but after a few weeks of use it has started to get really fussy and loops are popping up. It already looks worn. I'm disappointed with the durability of it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Antiboo Smelly but pretty cool
Rug smelled awful when it arrived & was dirty underneath; I wondered if it had been used and returned, but the smell faded and you don't see the underside when it's on the floor... Design wise, make sure you have a particular direction for entering a room because the text reads like a page and it feels odd approaching it backwards or sidewise. Otherwise it's definitely a conversation piece! Everyone wants to know what it says! (beats me)
