Stylish but more of a mess than help
I looked at this mat for a long time as it was just the right style and size for my covered patio. So even though some complained of its shedding, I made the purchase. However, even living in a city where there is hardly any bad weather to speak of, and being a woman with one small dog (so this hardly got abused), this mat was worse than nothing.
It started looking bad right away. And worse, it shed so many coir "threads" that I actually stepped over it to get into house as I didn't want to track in the mess! I tossed it after just a couple of months. Such a shame, because it looked great the first day...

French Court Coir Mat
Very pretty, but since I've placed it where it's exposed to weather, it is fading & shedding & holds water, too. So if you have a protected area, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, perhaps not.

Fabulous Door Mat!
I purchased the French Court Coir Mat in green and it's fabulous! Practical, but pretty, too! It really spiced up our boring front entry. I'm loving the green because it's a nice contrast against our brick home, looks great with fall plants, and will also complement our Christmas nutcrackers.

Looks great at first doesn't hold it's color for long.
I had looked at this door mat for so long but price always made me hesitate, since I could find nothing else I liked I decided to purchase it. Well I loved it at first but not more than a week or two of having it the color has faded and the straw fibers come out constantly. Maybe if it were half the price I wouldn't be so upset but for such pricey mat I expected better quality.

Cute but not perfect
I like the style of this mat very much, it really adds flair to my entrance. I got size Medium. Love the width (48"). But it would be better if it the front to back was deeper, as 16" is just enough to fit feet onto with it up against the threshold. Especially since the mat is tall it makes it tough for older people like my parents, who kind of tripped over it. Also, the color is rubbing off a little faster than I'd hoped. I've only had for about a month and already see some wear.

beautiful, but not tough enough
This mat is beautiful and looks great on my doorstep.
I've had it out for 3 weeks and am disappointed to find that the coir has loosened a lot already - making it look like it has taken a beating. I tried vacuuming it, and that does not help.
It's lovely, but should be sturdier, especially considering the price.

Looks great, great quality
I bought the French Court Coir Mat in black for my front and back porch. Even though they've seen a lot of traffic over the last 6 months, they've held up great. They still have beautiful color and no visible signs of wear. I highly recommend!

Sheds too much...design is obscured after just a couple of weeks
I wish I could recommend this mat as I loved the design, but the coir sheds so much that the nice, crisp black diamonds it arrived with are almost completely gone in the first two weeks. I wasn't even able to brush it off with a stiff brush. Too bad. Maybe the manufacturer needs to re-think the material used...the high-contrast black motif just doesn't hold up with this material.

Green color is not as pictured
This rug is good quality. However, I ordered the green and the color is not as pictured. The large diamonds are actually a dark, dark hunter green. And the small diamonds are a deep purple (they look tan in the photos). Unfortunately, I have to return them since they don't match the outdoor decor I bought them for. The products did arrive quickly - in 4 days.

Great Look...Poor Wear
I bought two of these...and while the Harlequin pattern is great, the ydid not hold up well for the money. I put one of them on the front stoop, and that one has help up OK. But the one on the landing heading to the basement has resulted in maddening "coir" strings all over. It actually sheds like a pet!! Very disappointing purchase.

French Court Coir Mat
I had been looking at the French Court Coir Mat for about 3years. Finally my daughter said," I can't believe that you haven't ordered that yet! You have so much Black/White checkerboard accents in your house this would be killer at the front door!" Well she was right. It is killer and the quality, and price are FANTASTIC!

Outstanding look for your entry!
I saw this in a magazine, tore out the ad and ordered it for our kid's house in southern California for Christmas. I wish I could send a picture with this because it looks amazing on their 1939 cottage home. It appears to have been made for their recessed entry door. The ONLY negative is the coir that most mats are made from--sort of sheds. I normally don't purchase anything made of that material but liked the design so much I made an exception. We all love it and the quality of this coir is great and worth the "shedding" issue. Came back to Indiana after Christmas and ordered three for all the entries of our 1900 restored farm house and barn doors. I'm not putting them out till spring--don't want to see snow and ice like we have now on them! Beautiful statement mats!!!

Disappointed
I have owned this mat for 6 months now and use it on a covered front porch. Although initially very pleased, I've experienced excessive shedding and color fading. I purchased the black mat. Too bad as I really liked the look at the front door.

Eye catching
I got the 16" X 48" size in black. I had been looking for a long time for a long but narrow mat and this one is really striking.
The little squares at the points of the diamonds look tan on my monitor, but are really gray. This small detail adds a lot to the richness of the overall look.
This mat is a bit thicker than my other coir mat, measuring about 1 11/16" deep. This works fine for exterior doors, but I found my French doors that swing into the conservatory could not clear it.

Love them! 3rd time I've bought them!!!
This is the 3rd time I have bought these French Court Coir mats. I buy them 2 at a time for my 2 back doors leading to the back porch. I replace mine every two years but I always seem to go back to the same design. They would last longer if there was some protection over them but I leave them out all year long exposed to the elements and though they still are nice and thick after 2 years the paint eventually blurs and I like for mine to look crisp and new. Absolutely love them!

Good looking mat
I am happy with the quality; this is a good looking doormat. Sheds some but not excessively in the first month of use. A good product for the price.

the black faded off of the mat in a couple of days.
I haven't even had the product for a month and the color has faded, it now looks old. The quality of the mat seems fine, but the color is now ugly.

Color not as pictured
The color was not as pictured in the catalog - it is a true "Kelly" green. Also the fibers of the mat seemed to fall apart easily.

color representation
In the catalogs for years and on the web site the "black" version of this coir mat appears to be black and white squares...there are no white squares. What appears to be white squares are actually the same tan color in the other versions. I was looking forward to a black and white version but upon seeing the quality of the mat and getting the sale price I decided to keep it. I suggest correcting the the color in the catalog & web site or specify that it is black and tan.

...but this mat faded fast. It's nice and thick and really does it's job. It just doesn't look new anymore.

Looks cute online, but a huge disappointment
I purchased the small and medium size, the small one doesn't shed as much as the medium but it still is a pain. the medium size one has been a nightmare and so unattractive since I took it out of the package. It just keeps on shedding; I've tried to sweep it, shake it, and vacuum it. NOTHING WORKS! They said to keep it in a covered area, and I did not but weirdly enough it looked better off it got rained on. Either way, save your money and don't buy this.

Really Beautiful Door Mat
At first we ordered the medium size (16"x 48"), because we have a door with sidelights and thought the width would fit nicely...but the front to back measurement seemed too narrow compared to the width. it looked really odd actually. But we LOVED the look of the matt we so exchanged it for the large size (24' x 39")... and the proportions and and everything are PERFECT!! It looks great! It upgrades the whole look of the front of our house.

Gorgeous Mat!
I am so happy with this mat! It arrived quickly, the color is perfect and the quality is excellent (no shedding). I had wanted to order this mat for some time but had second thoughts after reading a few of the negative comments. I decided to go ahead and give it a try and I'm so glad that I did! The red is exactly like the picture and the mat is so thick that you can see it from the street. It adds a beautiful touch to our front entrance!

Beautiful, but shreds
I saw these mats in House Beautiful and was thrilled that they were so reasonable ($19). They were the best looking ones they had in their featured segment. However, they have begun to shed their coir, which makes them look sloppy. I sweep the excess coir off of them periodically, but I can see already that it's a losing battle. Still, I am giving the product a good recommend because they are so pretty and different.

Completely disappointed...
What a bummer this turned out to be from the moment I opened the package. Such shedding already, but I loved it so I vacuumed it and made it look perfect. Put it by my front door which is covered and a week later it looks like it's 10 years old. I wish I could return it, but it's heavy and would cost too much to ship back. Don't waste your money, it is really bad and the black becomes covered in shedding.

Classy entry look
I have double front doors so I ordered two of the large size in black and they cover the entry doors perfectly. (Measure your door first). What a classy look! The only thing I have noticed after several days is that the mats seem to be "shedding". There are straw hairs everywhere. I am hoping this is a temporary thing and that they are just settling. The look is compromised by the errant straw hairs.
