Standard Delivery

Threshold Delivery
Threshold Deliveries are made by standard truck, unloaded by the driver and placed inside the first-floor doorway, garage or covered area of your choice.
In-Home Delivery
In-Home Deliveries are made by standard truck, placed inside your home wherever you like, inspected, and the packaging removed. Please allow an additional 2-3 weeks from Ship Date for your order to arrive. An agent will call to schedule your delivery. (Not available in all states.)
O/S (Oversized) Delivery
Items that are heavy or bulky are subject to an Oversized Delivery surcharge. This charge is listed after the item price.

I like this product
The only problem that I have is I spilled some water on it and now it is a bit splotchy. Since it is black, no one notices this except me. Very comfortable to stand on.

Love this mat!
Purchased the half moon shape rug to go in front of my french-door style refrigerator. It looked so good I purchased the bigger one for in front of my kitchen sink. They created a really "chic" look for my kitchen that all my friends compliment me on.

Exceeded my expectations!
Upon reading some other consumer reviews I will admit that I had some concerns about the odor with these mats but decided to take a chance anyhow and ordered two for my kitchen. I must say they exceeded my expectations! Yes there was a mild rubbery odor for a few days but it quickly dissipated. They are very comfortable to stand on, are easy to clean, and add a pop of fun & interest to my hardwood floor. I've only had them about a month but at this point I love them and would highly recommend them!

Didn't wash well
I was very disappointed with this mat. After the first washing the top layer started to peel back causing the edges to look frayed. My husband ended up using it at his workbench in the garage.

Perfect mat for my French Country kitchen!
The mat looks great in my kitchen and feels even better! I use it in front of my island and since I spend a lot of time prepping vegetables there, it's a welcome addition.
I was surprised when I got it that the background has the look of having water spots on it. I didn't like it at first, but came to love that feature. If it were just flat black, every crumb or water spill I drop, would show up.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it took me about a week of airing it out outdoors to get the heavy rubber smell out of it. But, it was definitely worth the trouble!

This mat is works great as the description mentions for
kitchen prep. A bonus is that its easy to maintain.

great size and comfortable
I like it. It fits well in the space. I am not sure about it going into the wash machine, think it will need to be hand washed on my driveway!

Could be great, but.....
This is only my second time ordering products from Ballard Designs. My first order ended in disappointment, as well. I have been eyeing this mat for quite some time. While the mat looks black in the catalogue, it is actually a dark grey color, and it is mottled with what I suppose are intended to be water spots. If you look carefully in the photo, you can actually see them. The mat is not printed. It has a screened overlay on a strong-smelling rubber mat. Additionally, the print on the mat was REVERSED like a mirror image! To their credit, Ballard immediately offered to replace the item or refund my money upon receiving the returned item. In the same order, I received another item that came in the wrong color. Buyer beware that if you decide not to keep your order, you will be driving to UPS to return ship them back. They do not offer to have UPS come to your home to pickup, even if the product is defective, or not what you ordered. C'mon Ballard, I think you can do better than this...

Disappointed
I love the design of this mat. I also experienced the rubber odor, but that went away after 1-2 weeks.
However, I am very disappointed in the overall quality of the product. After owning the mat for approx. 2 months, the design peeled around the edges. I owned cheaper comfort mats in the past and never experienced this problem. This certainly should not happen, given the cost of the item.
As I said before, this was a very disappointing purchase.

Not as durable as I'd expected
I actually love this mat - for its design, and its comfort. But after only a couple of months, the edges of the design overlay are starting to peel back. I expect that by summer it will be looking quite ragged, and I'll be looking for a replacement. Given the cost of this mat, I was certainly hoping to have it around for a few years, not months.

Looks great, but a strong rubber smell
The mat looks great, but does smell strongly of rubber. This scent may dissipate with time. Also, it gains the same look as a chalk board that has been written on and erased. I like this quality, but those who like the 'extreme clean' look may not.

Great Look bad smell
I love the look and it is the perfect size, but there is a strong industrial/rubber smell. Unfortunately I have not been able to use it yet because I am airing it out.

Really adorable, but with one issue
I love the look of these mats! They were everything I was hoping for, very comfortable to stand on, but with one caveat. They smell like rubber. I have a very open kitchen, so they have made the room smell like I have a rubber tire sitting out in the open. I've had them out for a few weeks and the smell has been diminishing consistently, but it has taken a while. If I had to make the choice over again, I can't say that I wouldn't buy them because they are so cute, but it would have been nice to be mentally prepared. So, I'm sharing this with anyone who thinks they want to order them to have them out just in time for a party -- I'd get them at least a month early. They are worth it, if you have the time to let them air out. Another positive is the look of the background is a somewhat mottled black, as if it is a real sandwich-board sign sitting out in the elements. Nice touch.

Nifty Addition to Our Kitchen
As soon as it was out of the packaging, the French bistro mat proved a nifty addition to our kitchen. Handsome to look at, comforting to stand on, this springy mat took its place on the floor and looked like it had always been there. And there was no detectible rubber smell, as mentioned in many older reviews, since the product had been reformulated, according to my conversation with Ballard Designs. The only thing I find a bit odd -- the French bistro menu, for those who know French, only includes vegetarian offerings, which is pretty rare in France from my trips there.

Did not disappoint
Just received this mat, fast shipping, Thank you Ballard! I opened it outdoors because of the reports of an offensive odor. There was a very faint rubber smell. Brought it inside, put it on the floor and so far no rubber smell. I love it.

Very comfy to stand on, cute design, but...
Is it comfortable to stand on? Very much. Is it a great idea and fun design? You bet. My one big gripe is that I couldn't tell from the photo that it always looks dusty. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like a chalkboard that had water sprayed on it and wasn't wiped down well before being written on. So to me, as well as my husband, it constantly looks like it needs to be wiped down. I guess I just thought it would be "cleaner" looking. But is great to stand on when I'm washing dishes or prepping food, which is pretty much a third of my day!

I like it!
I ordered the mat to use under my kitchen sink. It really fits the space well, is very comfortable to stand on, and very cute. It has a "dusty chalkboard" finish, which does mask most footprints, but I wish the surface finish was a little less "fuzzy" feeling, and easier to wipe clean. Overall, I am very happy with the mat.

Just "OK"
Was hoping for better quality. This is a fabric overlay on top of the rubber material and over time (had mine one month) is starting to fray/wear at the edges. Ok design but I don't like the watermarks on the black, as it is not pictured that way in the catalog. Also has a rubbery smell to it. Purchased other products from Ballard and was very pleased with them, so expected more than "average".

I said I would get another one...and I did.
A wonderful mat, and looks great too. I managed to spill an entire pot of hot coffee on it. The mat obligingly absorbed most of it and then washed like a dream. No stain, no aroma- just like new.

Looks great!
This is everything that was advertised. The comfort level is high, and it is easy to clean. It is wide enough (I got the medium) to easily cover the floor space on a double sink.

This product has great features
The large French Bistro Comfort Mat is wonderful! It has a lot of cushion so it's easy to stand on for long periods of time. I love how easy it is to clean with just a damp rag and I get lots of compliments on the design. Worth the price!

Love this mat
Besides being the perfect colors for my black and white kitchen, it is so comfortable to stand on at the sink. It catches all the drips and saves my hardwood floors.

Top peeling from foam base
I love the design of this mat, but over time (1+years) the top starts to peel away from the foam base, looking messy and unkempt. I would not recommend for this reason.

Comfort Plus Style
Love this addition to my kitchen. It adds a style and comfort for my feet in front of my sink. It cleans up easily with either a vacuum or with a broom.

Quick delivery and exceeded expectations
After reading prior reviews I was a bit hesitant, but pulled the trigger and haven't regretted it. Whatever the smell issue was, they apparently worked it out. Perhaps the handle holes in the shipping box. Nonetheless we aired our mat out for a week in the garage so by the time it hit our kitchen floor any hint of an odor was goine. The feel of the mat, which is the equivalent of a robust mouse pad, is amazing. I go out of my way to step on it throughout the course of the day. Water spotting has not been an issue whatsoever. Last, the mat was received in 4 days, even though the website originally said 2-4 weeks. Overall, we've been thrilled and would highly recommend this mat for its overall looks and performance.

Very attractive, thick and comfortable.
I am very pleased with this comfort mat. I ordered the largest one for my sink and dishwasher area, and liked it so much I also got another one for the stove area.
The mats are very attractive, I like that they are dark, they look great on my wood floors.
The odor problem is minimal. I had my mat outside for a day, and after that there was hardly any odor.
I had other, more expensive floor mats before, and they didn't look good after washing.
I hope this one will last a long time.

Wonderful rugs
They are very practical and artsy at the same time. Very comfortable to stand on when I am at the sink or stove. I bought the large and 2 of the smaller ones. I am very pleased with my purchase and they look great on my light wood floors!

fun and functional
I first bought the large size and used it in front of my new 48" wolfe stove. I loved it so much that I decided to go for the smaller one in front of the sink. After years of having woven rugs that slipped and stained these mats are perfect. I did not notice a smell as was mentioned from other and they are so easy to clean.
