Threshold Delivery Threshold Deliveries are made by standard truck, unloaded by the driver and placed inside the first-floor doorway, garage or covered area of your choice.
In-Home Delivery In-Home Deliveries are made by standard truck, placed inside your home wherever you like, inspected, and the packaging removed. Please allow an additional 2-3 weeks from Ship Date for your order to arrive. An agent will call to schedule your delivery. (Not available in all states.)
O/S (Oversized) Delivery Items that are heavy or bulky are subject to an Oversized Delivery surcharge. This charge is listed after the item price.

Not worth it
I ordered this desk in brown to match my antique bedroom set and it arrived in black and gray even though the box was marked as brown. It looks out of place. The order took much longer to arrive than indicated. The actual desk surface area is crowded. Don't expect to get much more than a laptop on it. After less than a year of use, the bottom drawer will no longer stay shut, but constantly pops open. A lot of money was spent, but the quality just isn't there. This was my first and last order from Ballard. About the only good thing I can say is that the desk will fit nicely into a small space.

What a lovely piece of furniture!
I'd been looking for the perfect desk for a year, on the internet, in catalogs, and in furniture stores. I wanted to find something not too "desky" looking as my work station is in my bedroom. I finally found the Eastman Secretary on the web and immediately knew it was the one. This is a very well designed, well made piece and has made organizing my family and personal life so much easier and pleasurable. One of the requirements I had for a desk was that it not be too deep or wide, as I had a particular space for it. The Eastman takes up very little room, yet it has so much storage space! I love the small drawers inside for pencils, and stationary supplies, yet the interior is big enough for a small lamp. My computer fits perfectly with room to spare. The file drawer has been a real space saver, as I've been able to move all important files into it and eliminate an ugly file box. The two other drawers hold computer supplies and current works in progress, like picture projects and small art work. In all it has reduced my clutter significantly all the while standing as a beautiful piece of furniture. I will treasure it always and pass it on to my children someday.

Almost perfect...
Beautiful, sturdy piece. The color was a little more red (I purchased the Old-World Brown) than I thought, but still works in our space. Also, as noted by others the file drawer does not come with the hardware. This is difficult because the drawer is shallow (which is what makes the piece good for small spaces) but all the retrofit file hardware is for deeper drawers. I would have given it 5 stars if not for that issue. Also, the shippers did not unpack the piece, so be prepared for a big mess, but worth it for the nice piece of furniture at a great price!

looks great, but does not stay shut
I purchased this secretary about a year ago. It was just what I was looking for in a desk - some storage space, space for hanging folders, front that could close and hold back the mess, not too large. For the first few months, I was thrilled with my purchase. But now, several items are problematic. The bottom file drawer will not stay closed (it is half loaded with papers). It keeps rolling open. More importantly, the top will not stay shut - it keeps flapping open and the magnets are not strong enough to hold it up and shut. I use this desk with a laptop and spend much time with the laptop perched on the desk writing surface and as a result, the desk front is now warped, contributing to the fact that it will not close and stay shut. I would say that this is a lovely desk for those who use it very lightly. But for those who use it with a laptop, not so much.
