Rated 4 out of 5 by PoolsideMom Bought in 2011, lasted 4 years
Beautiful table, loved the design. It was a great addition to our pool area. Finding an umbrella stand that doubles as a table is a challenge but this table lived up to the task. Would have given it 5 stars if it lasted longer. After about 4 years (year-round weather exposure), the top cracked but the base was in good shape. We touched it up with spray paint over the years, but because of the crack, we finally had to take it to the dump last December. All things taken into consideration, the price has gone up substantially since 2011 and knowing what I know now, it doesn't make sense to invest that much money for a table that will only last 4 years. I was planning to purchase it again, but the current price doesn't warrant a second purchase. Really bummed. If the price doesn't bother you and you don't mind the short lifetime, I would definitely recommend it.

The Baluster umbrella stand is as nice as I hoped it would be. The design is perfect, and it's functional too -- always an added bonus.

Rated 2 out of 5 by hunt Surprisingly Flimsy
I have always held Ballard Designs to a pretty high standard and that's why it surprised me when I received this umbrella table. The top is made of what seems like plastic and doesn't lock into the table well which allows it to move when you use it. I was also surprised that the table seems to be crooked so it is hard to find a place to put it that you can't tell it is crooked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rayna Resort feel and sturdy
These table/umbrella stands make my patio look like a resort. I love that I can leave the umbrellas in the stands without worrying about the wind taking them down. The only drawback was the amount of time it took putting sand in them. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by DisappointingStand Ours disintegrated!
We purchased the antique bronze color. Within a month (during the summer) the top began to turn white. During the winter, even though we had it covered, it just totally fell apart (top and bottom). What a shame, it was the perfect size and color for our needs. Ballard did reimburse us though. "Weatherproof resin" is definitely misleading.

Rated 1 out of 5 by pdm679 Base is sinking on one side and makes umbrella crooked
After only one year, the base of the umbrella stand is sinking in on one side making the umbrella stand crooked. Good concept and would have been great if it were made of concrete, but the polymer is not strong enough to hold up for a long period of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Patiodweller2015 Cool, but could be better
The table top is too small. Certainly workable to but too small. It is a pain to fill with pebbles, sand or ? I was frustrated because it took over a half hour to get it to a decent weight. The product is quality, but I would still make changes to make it better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by kittie12 Pretty and functional design
This table stand is very sturdy and has a lovely finish, a great combination of form and function, should last a long time. I give it 4 stars because the table top was not molded perfectly flat, but slanted. The opening for the sand is too small and it takes a long time to funnel it into the base.

Rated 2 out of 5 by tlpsw Do not leave out in the winter
The description said weatherproof, apparently only at certain temps. By Spring it was crumbling/disintegrated. Not heavy enough even when weighted to keep from wind catching umbrella and tumbling over. It was really cute though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FussyGirl Does the Job But Use Very Dry Sand to Fill
I purchased this for my 11-foot round Ballard umbrella. Our previous heavy-duty cast iron stand from another vendor just wasn't enough to keep my umbrella from toppling over in any sort of wind condition. I'm pleased to say that this definitely does the job; just make sure that you are using very dry sand to fill it! Our sand had some moisture in it and it made the initial process of filling this quite laborious until we spread the sand out and let it dry. After that, no problem. I definitely recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NickR Great Customer Service!
I was disappointed last year when I purchased this product and it did not hold up well at all. I read in the reviews that the company admitted that they were not pleased with the product last year as well. I notified them and told them my issues and they were very accomodating in getting me a new unit that has been redesigned and made with better materials. Very happy customer - great customer service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by emdon Good quality solid construction
Product delivered quickly and well wrapped. The stand is very sturdy and attractive. So much so that I bought a second one for the other end of the outdoor couch! They also serve as small tables to hold drinks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Krznout Beautiful addition in my backyard
The Baluster Umbrella Stand is absolutely beautiful and compliments my patio furniture. I recently purchased for a retirement/birthday party I threw in my backyard and it arrived in a short period of time. It was easy to put together and is a gorgeous piece. I would recommend adding dry sand to add the extra weight to ensure it doesn't topple over with an umbrella in it and for those windy days. Well worth the price!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by EvaDiva Good idea. Not 100% happy with product, though.
I was surprised when I searched the internet that so few options are out there regarding "wind proof umbrella holders." The concept regarding this product is good. I noticed other folks who reviewed the product mentioned how difficult it is to put the sand down the small hole on the top/side of the product (The sand is important, as it adds weight and helps keep the stand from tipping over in high winds when the umbrella is extended.). Well after ordering 2 of these stands and buying 2 40-lb bags of sand, it took me an hour and a half PER STAND to get the sand down the small hole. I could think of no easy solution. I have not used the stand yet, so I don't know if one 40-lb. bag of sand is sufficient on a windy day. I also wish the stand was a bit shorter, as it looks funny between my chaise lounge chairs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by brandJeannine Falls apart after 6 months outside
These are gorgeous, so I bought two of them last year. After about six months in New England weather, however, the resin is chipping off and disintegrating. These would probably be fine if you brought them inside during harsh weather, but they're a bit heavy for that (besides, what's the point?)....

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lenore987 Poor Quality- Not weather proof
I purchased this stand and within a few months the top of the stand began to crumble and separate from the base. Ballard provided me with a replacement due to manufacturing defect. I received the new stand and within a 6 month time frame, the stand has completely crumbled peeled and disintegrated. Returning second stand now!

Rated 1 out of 5 by BWhi NOT weatherproof as advertised
Purchased last June. 9 months later, the finish is coming off and the white material below is literally dissolving. Very poor quality item - especially when it is specifically advertised as "weatherproof". Unable to upload photo for some reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NewHomeCO Combo table and umbrella stand!
I have two of these. They are beautiful and great quality. Nice to be able to use the umbrella stand feature or just the table alone. I can fairly easily move the umbrella stand to different spots as we have no sand in them, and they haven't toppled yet.

I am enjoying the color of the umbrella, and the quality of both the umbrella and stand. Adds a nice finishing touch to our patio!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Imagine Liked it more than I thought I would!
The umbrella stand table was purchased because I couldn't find anything else appropriate at a reasonable price. I was afraid the top would be too small, and that the material would look cheap. But I really like it! It took forever to fill it with sand, but it is very sturdy now that it is completed. It has been in the Florida July sun for a month, and it is holding up well. Quite pleased!

This umbrella stand looks as good as the ones from the expensive outdoor stores!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Massachusetts Highly Disappointing!!!
It is impossible to fill with sand -slot not big enough. Big gap around pole - there is nothing included to fit around the umbrella pole, therefore, inside metal is exposed. The table top does not sit on top straight. I would return it if not so cumbersome - it's big.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jannygirl Great looking and functional BUT
We ordered two of these umbrella stands and they look very nice. After about one week, the top appeared discolored, like the paint was chipping off! I called Ballards and you were quick to reorder another set. They arrived in the rain. We needed to send the damaged set back in the rain soaked boxes AFTER removing all of the sand. Hoping this set is ok.

A friend bought one which is how I learned about it. I love the fact that the top can be used as a small table to hold small candles, drinks, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MoNOllie Love it but . . . .
I love this item - the idea of it. Light wt until you fill it with stand so the umbrella stays put. However, the table part arrived with a crack (horizontal) that seemed to have worsened on its own without being "stressed" in anyway. I choose not to return it (didn't feeling like dealing with the size of the item to ship it back). Glued it and now it is perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by PatioGuy A GREAT Product Improved Even More
I purchased two of these last year - I obviously liked them, because I ordered two more this year. What a surprise when I discovered they are even more substantial than the previous products. In addition, the screws to hold the umbrellas are much more substantial and dependable. GREAT improvement. Two of these I use for umbrella stands and two find other uses - table for holding supplies while grilling, table for appetizers. And when they are not being used, they are a nice addityion to the garden/landscaping. Thanks for another great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by UrbanMavin Nice patio piece
This stand is very sturdy and attractive. I have received several complements. I purchased the bronze finish and it goes well with my patio furniture. Very easy to put together in a few seconds. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars was because it is not easy pouring the sand into the slot that is at the top of the stand. The opening is very narrow and the sand has to be 100% dry to do so. If the opening was larger I would rate it with 5 stars. Once the sand is added, the stand stays put and can withstand summer storms without issue, even with the umbrella in place. Item was shipped quickly and received in perfect condition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lid91 Perfect Addition
I had bought a great-looking umbrella to shade our loungers but was having trouble finding a sturdy enough stand to safely put it in. The stand looks VERY nice and is much heavier/sturdier than I expected. Perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MNTapdancer stand-up stand
This is a good buy. It is sturdy and securely holds my umbrella on my small deck. It can accomodate a drink on the tiny circular table but doesn't take up the space of a patio table. Once again Ballard pleases.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lindajo2 TERRIBLE workmanship!
This is the second one of these stands I've ordered. The first one had a lopsided top but the hole in the middle to add sand and the hole for the umbrella was the correct size. The second one I ordered had a HUGE hole for the umbrella; much to large for the umbrella to stand straight up in place, and then there was no room on the side of that hole to add the sand. The sand is added to weigh it down. Customer service did resolve my issues and were excellent to work with.
If there could be some oversight and some consistency in fabricating this umbrella stand, it would be awesome...but...
