Handle marked/cut
One of the handles on my bag had cuts and marks on it when I opened the product. I hope it doesn't break due to the cuts in the leather. Otherwise, I really like the color and size of the bag.

Perfect size!
This tote bag is very sturdy without being too stiff and has ample room to carry books, cosmetics, documents, etc. for traveling. I just love this bag!!!

Do not buy
After reading all of the great reviews, I decided to purchase these bags for my bridesmaids. Big mistake. The first three bags that I received were damaged and had random black spots all over the pale pink and red bags. In addition, they are very poor quality. I was thinking the girls could use them for the beach, but the stitching is completely permeable so that would be impossible. They resent the bags and, again, there were black spots on each bag. They're going back to Ballard Designs and I clearly need to shop for gift alternatives.

Great little gift
I bought 6 different bags, in 6 different colors, each with a single letter monogram for a group a friends visiting for the weekend -- they were a hit!

Love! Great wedding Gift!
I was the maid of honor in a wedding and bought this bag for the bride to hold her things for the day. She loved the monogram with her new initials :) The bag was big enough to store all her things for the day- shoes, hairspray, bobby pins, makeup, etc. We put A TON of stuff in the bag and had plenty of space left. I really like how it had a zipper and didn't have to worry about stuff falling out.
Now that I am getting married, I ordered a bag for myself :) So excited to use it on my big day!

Nice tote poor monogramming choice.
I really like the tote I ordered. I selected to have it personalized. Wish I hadn't...The lettering style I selected is almost unreadable. I would not have gotten script style had I known this. Of course it's not returnable so I'm stuck with the monogram I selected. The tote itself is awesome. Quality material with leather handles.

Great size, quality, and personalization
I had been thinking about getting this bag for some time and finally took the plunge. I'm so glad I did! I love the how the monogram makes it unique. Th quality of the bag is evident in every stitch. I bought the large and it's roomy enough for a simple overnight bag or a farmers market bag. I can see this bag becoming a traveling staple.

HUGE w/ flexibility
I ordered this bag for my to be sister-in-law as a shower gift and although it hasn't been actually used yet, I can tell already that the flexibility to fill the bag has been great. It is so much better than those canvas stiff bags that don't fit to the body or the contents inside. I can't wait to see her face when she opens it!

This is a great bag!
I received one of these bags as a gift years ago! I use it all the time! It has held up wonderfully and looks great still today. I carry it in my car and use it anytime I shop.

Cute and Sturdy
I bought the large tote to use as a diaper bag to bring back and forth to daycare. It's large enough for a blanket, toys, empty bottles, a small insulated bag for expressed milk, and there's still room to spare. I love having such a cute monogrammed workhorse bag so I can save my nice diaper bag from the trauma of daycare!

Very smart and roomy
Gave them as gifts on a beach birthday celebration they loved them and the monograms looked great. Colors were true to the pictures in the catalog. Will purchase them again.

Disappointed with the quality
the tote is cheap looking. I bought it as a gift and am embarrassed to give it. I'm not that picky, but this is just bad. Wouldn't be so upset if it would have been for me, but giving it as a gift will be just...yucky.

great bag!
I bought a large tote bag and a medium tote bag and they are excellent! The large bag is very big and is great for bringing things back and forth to work or bring on vacation. The medium bag is smaller, but still holds a lot of stuff. Very sturdy bag and I love the colors (sand and red). The monogram came out great and I think these bags are definitely worth buying.

Great quality and beautiful purse!
I bought the jute big tote bag with the black initials embroidered and loved it. The quality is excellent, it has a plastic lining inside that makes it sturdy and easy to clean. It is a convenient size to go shopping, eco-friendly and unique with the personalized letters. It's comfortable to carry as it does not weigh, and it's not bulky either. Everyone loved it so much that I ordered 2 more, one for my kids' teacher for Christmas and one for my best friend's birthday. Makes a great personalized gift.

Great product... not in love with some details
I recently bought three bags, in three colors with three different styles of monograms for gifts. I wish the pink were a bit brighter but it was to be expected and fairly true to the picture.
On of the monograms seemed off-center, in fact, it was -- I measured it. Luckily, my friends are not as OCD as me. Also, note that the dark purple/aubergine is VERY VERY dark. My friend actually thought it was brown.
Overall, it is a great product just be careful when ordering monograms online.

LOVE THIS BAG!!
Used this bag as a carry-on for flying/travelling and got SO many compliments. Nice weight and sturdy handles. I also gave these as Christmas gifts and I think they were a big hit because I see everyone I gave one to using them constantly! (regarding the lady who got an off-center monogram, I have found Ballard communication regarding backordered items and customer service to be A+. It's been my experience that when there is a problem they bend over backward to make it right!) Will definitely buy more of these!!

Tote bag is a great bridal shower gift
The tote bag was purchased to hold my future daughter-in-law's "beach" trousseau for her honeymoon.
It was the first gift she received with her new inititals and contained her bikini, sandals, wet bikini-bag & cover up. There was still plenty of room to add more items.
I selected the large bag in the natural color with an off-white monogram(similar to photo on website). The gift was well received.

Great Value!
I purchased the extra large tote bag with the diamond monogram to take on a week long beach trip. The bag was a great size- large enough to fit 3 large beach towels, snorkel gear, sunscreen, and an extra change of clothes! My bag took quite a beating on the trip and I was happy with how durable it was! The only thing that wasn't completely perfect was the monogram, there are a few gaps in the stitching and the color wasn’t what I had envisioned (my fault). I quickly got over it and I love the value of this bag so much that I'm ordering another one as a gift.

The tote is lightweight and a pretty color.
Since there is no hardware on the bag and it is made of canvas, it is very light to carry. I got two in different colors and love them both. I love Ballard's products and have been using them for years.

handle does not last
I received this bag for my birthday last year and LOVED it! The material was unique and felt very sturdy while the bag was large enough to carry everything I needed. However, after six months of VERY infrequent use, one of the handles tore from the bag. I'm hoping to get it fixed, but I am very disappointed in the lack of durability.

I love the bags but was disappointed that you do not offer free shipping on purchases over $50.00 like other retailers. I almost didn't buy the bags for that reason.

Will be PERFECT when they get "worn-in"
Just received my two monogrammed totes (one medium & one large) and I am taking them both on a 9-day road trip. One is for cd's, audio books, medicines, phone and camera chargers, etc. The other is for maps, snacks, koozies, travel mugs and other miscellaneous items. I predict the big one will hold the souvenirs I'll be buying along the way! I like the look of worn leather (the handles should be after this trip) and the burlappy fabric should soften-up as the trip unfolds...but I'm glad I got these two to match my luggage. The personalization ensures they are easy to spot too!

disappointing quality
These bags looked so cute in the magazine.
Upon receipt, however, they were rough, stiff and the zipper was put in poorly - very difficult to zip or unzip. Does not work as a tote-hard to use, uncomfortable to carry.The size is nice and the colors and personalization were well done. The price seemed great...but in hindsight not worth it.

The bags were sent in a timely way. The "lime" green bags were unfortunately a muted olive green when they arrived.
I received the bags before Christmas, and they seemed well made. I was VERY disappointed that the bags that looked in the pictures to be a lime color were in fact an unattractive olive green. The navy thread that I had picked for the monogramming was then, needless to say, not a great blend with the muted green.

useful
I live in a county where stores must charge 5 cents for each bag a consumer requests. So a tote like this is especially handy. Ordering was a little difficult because the monogram examples are so small and the size of the monogram is not specified. I think my monogram is too large for my tote and wish I had had a better description of the size of the letters.
