Please note: Any items that are monogrammed, customized, Customer's Own Material (COM), or made-to-order cannot be returned or exchanged unless damaged or defective. Defective items will be exchanged unless no longer available, in which case a Merchandise Certificate will be issued. Once a returned item is received in our warehouse, the return or exchange will be processed immediately. For credit card orders, you can expect to see your refund credit within 72 hours. For check and money orders, you can expect to receive your refund check within 7-10 business days.

Standard Delivery
Orders are shipped by standard ground and usually arrive within 3-7 business days. Items ordered at the same time may not be delivered together.

Threshold Delivery
Threshold Deliveries are made by standard truck, unloaded by the driver and placed inside the first-floor doorway, garage or covered area of your choice.

In-Home Delivery
In-Home Deliveries are made by standard truck, placed inside your home wherever you like, inspected, and the packaging removed. Please allow an additional 2-3 weeks from Ship Date for your order to arrive. An agent will call to schedule your delivery. (Not available in all states.)

O/S (Oversized) Delivery
Items that are heavy or bulky are subject to an Oversized Delivery surcharge. This charge is listed after the item price.

Express Delivery
Express orders received by 3 p.m. EST are shipped the same day.
For items under 15 lb., the following Express Delivery rates apply:

  • Two day service, add $9.95
  • Next day service, add $19.95
  • Alaska, Puerto Rico, USVI & Hawaii, add $9.95 (Express Delivery required)

Swatch Shipping
Ballard Designs offers up to 10 free swatches for all of our fabrics for a small fee of $5.95 for shipping and processing. It will take 3-7 business days for your swatches to arrive. The swatches are approximately a 3" X 3" square.

Poor Quality Every item I purchased from this cracked within a year. March 9, 2014
Beautiful design; poor quality Bought these two years ago for "everyday" as a set of 12 plus two oval platters and two serving bowls. They go beautifully in my glass-fronted cabinets and are exactly what I was looking for: a creamy white with classic beaded design. Unfortunately, they are poorly made. First of all, many (but not all) get very hot in the microwave--hotter than the food/drink, making them difficult to handle. In no time, they developed scratches that are turning the surfaces of the plates and interiors of the bowls an ugly grey. We are gentle with our dishes, but using just about any knife will scratch, as will use of a spoon to scrape anything out of the bowls. Recently, I've also noticed significant crazing on many of them as well. I have not noticed the chipping problem mentioned by many other reviewers, except for the bottoms of the footed bowls. Some of mine chipped within weeks of purchase. Others have mentioned the cheesy black "Made in China" stamp on the bottom of EVERY item. And I agree that the serving bowls are huge--WAY too big for most meals that you'll serve. I sometimes use them when feeding 12 or more people, but how often do most people do that? As another reader said, buy these only if you plan to look and not touch. January 16, 2013
Pretty but so impractical I've had this service for about 3 months now. That's it's pretty is the best I can say for it. So far we've broken 1 lunch plate and 1 mug, and chipped two bowls and another lunch plate - pretty much just by breathing on the pieces, they're so fragile. I can't go near these pieces coming out of the microwave - it burns my hand. Plus the plates get hotter than the food. So I have to use an old plate or bowl and transfer the food so now I'm dirtying two pieces for my dinner. I would have returned them but couldn't afford to lose the shipping costs both ways since I bought a service for 12 plus the platter and two serving bowls. Wow. And now I've had to buy extra sets to complete my service for 12 and have a few extra for future breakage. But no more. Wish I had not bought these extremely expensive and ultimately unsatisfactory dishes. December 7, 2011
Simple, Timeless, and Elegant I had been eyeing this beaded dinnerware set for years and when I finally went to order it this past March, it was no longer available. I went around and looked in so many stores and catalogs trying to find a pattern that I liked as much as this one, but to no avail. When I contacted Ballard customer service, they told me they were bringing it back around August. I was so happy when I saw it in the catalog again, and I bought 3 sets plus the round bowl and oval platter. Aesthetically, it is one of the most beautiful sets around. The off white color with rust-like edges make it look like an antique, while the beads give it a simple, timeless, and elegant look. The dinnerware is a much lighter weight than I thought. I believe it is earthenware, and not stoneware. With that, it can chip more easily and I already have a little chip on the end of one of my salad plates. I had my other set for 16 years and never had an issue with chipping, so I will have to be more careful with this set. It is just my husband and I (no kids) so I am not worried. Other than that, this dinnerware set is perfect! October 5, 2011
