Pavilion Birdcage
One man's junk is another Ballard treasure
Here, we say "junk." In France, they call it brocante. It was spring in the south of France and we were up to our chins in "brocante" when we saw the original version of our Pavilion Birdcage. It was the unusual curved top that first drew our attention. It had the romantic look of a gypsy wagon and made us wonder where it had been.
It took months to figure out how to get the roof shape and riveted details of our Pavilion Birdcage just right. And many more to capture the age-worn, zinc finish that made the original antique so special. Because each one was handmade, the creative process was time consuming. But when it all came together, we knew that we had transformed one man's junk into another Ballard treasure.
