Atlanta, GA - Jr. Sourcing Specialist

Ballard Designs is now seeking a high energy, motivated, team oriented individual to join our Sourcing team as the Sourcing Specialist. Ballard Designs is a fast paced and exciting retailer with over 25 years of successful direct marketing experience through our catalog and website.The Jr. Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for increasing team project capacity & productivity by facilitating product development to decrease time to market. This person will also manage suppliers and agents for long-term growth and partnership. They will also maintain Ballard’s established Sourcing business while working to continually increase quality, standards, and margin for the assigned area.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the Ballard Designs brand is represented in each product with proper quality, branding, and packaging
  • Maintain training established with each vendor, agent and forwarder regarding Ballard routines (i.e. drop testing, factory evaluation, all aspects of pd routine, emails, labeling/ packaging, quality standards, new vendor training, vendor compliance, trips …)
  • Maintain all reports to keep projects/documents organized and updated – product development packets, accurate spec sheets, Work Group reports …
  • Maintain an electronic file for each vendor & agent noting all contact information, history, strengths and weaknesses, factory profile, brochures …
  • Partner with merchandising & inventory to manage each project for a cost effective timely product development with an adequate lead-time for stock
  • Spec Sheet Books – all completed packets are to be complete with accurate spec sheet, instructions, breakout of materials, passing test results, final image … on record. All packets to have any relative information re quotation, materials, HS# … for customs record.
  • Communicate all needed information to the Assistant for the success of the team (specs, trip planning,
  • Work Group updates, Sourcing address book …)
  • Work Group Meetings – prepare for the work group meeting in your area. Partner with assistant to ensure that work group is current with updates following each meeting.
  • Sourcing’s product development process & routine for the respected area of assignment; see Sourcing flow chart for each step of responsibility
  • Trip Follow-up – assist team with trip follow-up in a timely manner. Track order samples, work line by line through trip notes to ensure each task is completed
  • Support team as needed when team members are traveling
  • Support Packaging & QC Specialist position as needed for package testing and quality issues
  • Assumed basic responsibilities - ex: assist in the productivity and organization of the team and Ballard Designs, Inc.

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to function independently or in a team and show sound judgment in a fast paced environment adapting to change with a sense of urgency
  • Must be detail oriented, very organized, and a quick learner
  • Able to multi task, prioritize critical issues and work within all levels of the organization
